#StarTrekVOY "Through The Valley"
To traverse a terrifying region of space, the crew refit Voyager to look like one of the native space-born creatures. When a transporter accident splits Harry into two people, Janeway demotes each of them to halfnsigns.
Everyone who is saying "Dems in red states have to throw trans people under the bus to win" -- no.
They don't.
When they do that, we just start with no winning options on the table. It gives in to the fascist premise that we get to decide some groups don't get rights.
THIS is what I want to see.
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights:
“I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
King: today we visit a blorbo ruining farm for ruining blorbos
Vernon: i'm telling you, we just grow sorghum here
King: uh huh
King: and where's the blorbo ruining happening?
Vernon: round back
Vernon:
Vernon: oops
Sandy came by to check on us. It's been almost a year since we captured and neurwered him for release. It's getting colder so he's probably checking on his clients. We give him a flea treatment every month or so.
Poe: i mean, you're british, right?
Durham: come now, old sport
Durham: i'm as american as steak and kidney pie!
Poe:
Edward Gorey: seems legit, old chap
Durham: Rah-tha, old man!
"The nation that separates its surgeons from its warriors will have its top surgeries done by cowards and its fighting done by fools."
-totally unedited quote from Thucydides
The ad somehow accepts the fact this this narrative will turn off all women and even men who aren't creepy nerds, and then rolls with it.
Know your audience, I guess...
The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:

I was wondering why I hadn't heard anyone yelling at Sam Harris for a while and found out it's because he's boring. Like, I *knew* he was boring in that weird fashy kind of way but that's why we yelled at him. He retreated to his own podcast where he has control and people don't yell at him (boring)
Now that FB answers posts with other posts, why would anyone "engage" with FB? I saw a question about "Do you need special equipment to test vacuum tubes" and instead of waiting for someone to pipe up with a variable DC power supply, the past answer posts were underneath.
After the Secretary was asked
about the measles deaths
in Pennsylvania
a staffer quickly stated
“We’re not going to talk
about that,”
and while this obviously
isn’t much of an answer,
it is an accurate description
of how this society
talks about contagious threats.
I saw a clip
of protests in Europe
and thought:
the world is on fire.
I saw a clip
of El Niño predictions
and thought:
the world is on fire.
And
I saw a clip
of a celebrity on a runway
in a $20 million bra
and thought:
the world is on fire.
