Several things about owning a house have made me feel old, but none so much as being excited to see how my new gutters perform in the rain

This is not how politics has to work if you have the simple moral clarity to say “fuck you, why do you care about trans healthcare if you aren’t a trans person trying to get healthcare? What are you going to do next, wipe my ass for me? Tell me what I should read? I thought we were Americans here”

The proper reaction to many things will be called an overreaction in retrospect. y2k. ozone hole. etc etc. the amount of response required to counter a problem will always feel like too much to many

I really feel this today.

I don’t think I would go back to a festival as big as Lightning In A Bottle if I wasn’t crew on something… so here I am, working on a giant Banana

It sounds like campgrounds at Coachella got burning man’d Some people are talking shit but - when you go to black rock you KNOW it’s camping in a dirt hurricane. The winds there were very abnormal. I have compassion for everyone who’s ez-up became hard-down.

I haven’t posted anywhere but… fucking Dan dying. He was a legend and a friend. The praise he gave me always meant so much because we all knew he was a salty bitch but also the kindest soul. His sets never missed. Never. He’d been famous for decades and he still sewed the curtains for our art car.

The way Bondi said "Culver City" sounded like she was talking about Mos Eisley I am so confused as to how the fever swamp got ahold of that talking point When a guy rummaged around in my back yard a few years ago he didn't even take a *bicycle* that was there

We have long held that cat videos are one of the cornerstones of the internet. I finally saw a cat video that I didn’t initially realize was AI. They did it. They blew it up. They made cat videos unreliable, and therefore ruined the joy. Quite an accomplishment!

<professional hat>if you have a react service in the wild and you're not sure why I'm bringing it up, you need to patch it right now</professional hat>

I had no memory of Predator 2 being “hero cops vs violent immigrant LA interrupted by hunting alien”

I think it's now possible to make a poli-sci course that equips one for modern political analysis better than most classic theory and has a syllabus sourced entirely from random internet posts. Text 1. Wilhoit's Law, born as part of a 2018 blog comment crookedtimber.org/2018/03/21/l...

I love that nearly any time I go somewhere in LA I haven’t been to before I run into something I could not possibly have anticipated

You should also not Balatro and drive! But you can drive immediately after Balatroing

I have to admit, I swapped my addiction to alcohol to now being addicted to balatro. 🃏♠️♥️♣️♦️ I forgive myself. 😝

I expected to hear the Imperial March zero times while watching Coachella streams I have heard it three times so far Sign of the times?

If you say you were expecting to hear LL Cool J rap over the Imperial March at Coachella, you are lying.

I'm posting about electrical work woes, but before I got into that I went to the only protest of any size I know of having happened in my small part of Los Angeles. Easily thousands. And that was before the big downtown turnout. The energy was amazing. Anger in a group can turn into joy.

I have a camper van whose electrical system is a byzantine nightmare. A while back I ditched its on board generator and ran an inverter to the transfer switch instead. Sometime last year the inverter detected a ground fault. Today, I found where it was.

Nope. It was’t just this. Sometimes it faults with the wires connected, sometime it faults while disconnected. I have to assume some of this solid wire vibrated into a fault at some point in the past 23 years Bleargh

I'm quite glad that connecting the wires directly resulted in no ground fault and power to the other side of the van, because replacing that wiring would be... an extra special nightmare. Expanding four cutouts to replace four weird-ass outlets with normal boxes is MUCH less work

I'm not even sure exactly what the fault -is-, but removing the wack outlet from the equation fixes it, so... close enough to understanding

"your opinion is worthless, shut the fuck up" is exactly the correct response to all the racist transphobic whiners bitching about the existence of anyone who isn't a white male in video games

I finally added a profile pic that didn't reference an old social network I used to work for. @ktcubb.bsky.social and I had a fun little photo shoot, and even though my hair isn't colorful at the moment, her colorful work can reflect my love of a lack of monochrome

getting more into baking sweets probably doesn't align with our general health interests but it comes with having home made sweets so who am I to stand in the way of progress?

I think I can almost guarantee that Star Wars Outlaws is a lot better than you think it is

I've spent months getting to my desk every day and thinking "I should take my keyboard apart and clean it". So today, I did! Four year old keyboard back to nearly like new.

Newly cleaned keyboard and trackball back in their homes. I am choosing not to share any closeups of the trackball or half disassembled keyboard before cleaning because... ew.

Everyone blasted the 90s Star Trek series for not having enough serialization, but it turns out life really is like that time Picard had a lifetime of memories installed in his brain, including seeing his family die, only to have to deal with time travel and Mark Twain in his very next mission

These might my favorite thing I took from my childhood home. I have no idea how old they actually are, but they evoke fond memories of after school snacks. Specifically with salami while watching Batman:TAS

I don’t care if you’re a relative, a fantasy novelist, or an elected official, transphobia is manufactured outrage and transphobe are trash. None of America’s problems are cause by trans people. None. But a LOT are caused by bigots.
