Attention scum teenagers: It’s time to stop eating avocado toast, being and having genders, and do your patriotic duty (get obliterated to a fine mist by weapons that might as well be fired from outer space in a new, somehow even dumber war)

I have never seen coverage of a live trial, one involving allegations of multiple sex attacks on multiple women, framed in a more distasteful way. It's not 'Fame under fire' it's a rape trial. And it involves actual women. And this from the *checks notes* BBC

Can’t wait for the video to drop of unblinking Ferran Soriano telling Man City staff that their defeat to PSG tonight is only Uefa’s opinion of the game and he has irrefutable evidence that they actually won it.

This is a really important story

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

In the 1985 Doctor Who serial Vengeance on Varos, an authoritarian regime run by a weak man keeps the downtrodden population in line by broadcasting public executions to distract from the fact that it has tanked the economy through a combination of incompetence, arrogance and institutional cruelty.

If you used to listen to @robinince.bsky.social on The Infinite Monkey Cage then give his new podcast series a go. This episode with @chanda.blacksky.app was very interesting and enlightening. It also added a few more books to my To Be Read pile! tinyurl.com/374udvz8

If I am me and I am competent then so what if I'm evil? Billy Shakes wrote this rationalizing horseshit and wrote it way better, Pete: "What do I fear? Myself? There's none else by. Richard loves Richard; that is, I am I. Is there a murderer here? No. Yes, I am. Then fly! What, from myself?"

This is actually hell, right?

The major platforms—Facebook, YouTube, and X—are all refusing to show the trailer for the upcoming documentary that eviscerates the ridiculous pest Elon Musk. So I guess we have to do our part to make sure it is seen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY_8...

My TV EPG is promising a show called Attenborough’s Big Birds and all I can imagine is him earnestly whispering, “This… is Diana Dors.”

One can marvel at the philanthropic majesty of Dolly Parton and praise her as a rare example of a mega-rich person with a good heart or weaponize progressive language, slur the minimal legal protections of copyright as "rent seeking" and pretend creative labor is not "real" labor but not both.

I’ve spent several hours tonight watching Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes on ITVX. I think it is close to the pinnacle of British TV. Camp without being arch. For a mass audience. No concessions to lack of concentration. Wonderfully shot, directed and acted. Made by Granada. Excellence is possible.

Already today I've seen this, and on LinkedIn, one pensioner was complaining it was no help to him because he already has a free bus pass, and another was complaining he doesn't get a free bus pass despite having "paid in all his working life" - he lives in Spain.
