Currently sat in the back of a taxi, it's a Tesla. What an uncomfortable vehicle, the seat is far too low-my knees are about 10cm above my hips. I'd never buy one for obvious reasons.I can't believe they were designed like this. Almost all Marseille taxis were Teslas, guess they are cheap to run.

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

Beyond redemption.

JUST IN: The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office said on Monday. Her office will not charge the white officer who shot the child.

Yet again... some are protected, some are vilified.

OK, there is something very, very weird going on in the press right now. It certainly appears, from the outside, as if certain people are being very much protected in a way that was not afforded to certain other people! Let's start with the facts around Lola Salem... 🧵1/

A message to the people in #70Up: we have grown up together, and I’ve always watched with fascination, but the current series fills me with such unspeakable joy and grief at the same time. Thank you. A true epic. I salute you x

So Ratcliffe's Ineos is stopping production due to gas prices. The BBC mentions that despite being a supporter of brexit he's been Monaco resident since 2020. They don't mention *why* he moved to Monaco... According to reports at the time it was to avoid paying large amounts of tax. Some patriot.

Reading the news is just depressing. Misanthropes throwing large sums of money at Reform. Britain First having remigration demonstrations. Knuckle draggers having 'stop the boats' rallies. And all this time... silence from our government.

9/11 I'd been at a meeting and was in a taxi to the airport in Germany when my partner called telling me about the first plane. Second was on the airport news screens. Business as usual at security. Hadn't put two and two together until my plane landed late and the pilot explained why...

Driving in town, slow traffic, car in front food packaging out of the passengers window. Then 2nd time (short horn beep from me). Then 3rd time. Long horn blast. Then driver throws rubbish out his window. Another blast... Driver gets out of car and confronts me complaining about my aggression.

Driver surprisingly well spoken and I guess 45-50. Suggests I'll have a problem if I meet someone more volatile than him. Finishes discussion with me with 'and you're fucking ugly'. Crazy world we live in.

What I hate about the 'culture wars' of the last ten or so years is how it has sapped my generosity of spirit. I find myself reading bad news about someone whose views I despise and find myself lacking the empathy I once had.

Farage claiming he's a longstanding advocate for crypto and gifts buy no influence. It doesn't pass the 'sniff' test; -on the one hand he claims 'he doesn't do computers', - on the other hand he claims he has his own views on crypto. It's bullshit. One of those statements is a lie (or both).

End of an era! The BBC is switching off the 198kHz R4 service tomorrow. I've listened to this all over (bits of) Northern Europe in the 90s when I did a lot of driving. Oh well, time moves on.

SoftBank’s investor presentation is one of the greatest things ever made. I’ve been thinking about it all day. These are the real slides shown in a speech where Masayoshi Son said he wouldn’t retire for at least another decade. The goose stuff is truly demented. Bravo group.softbank/media/Projec...

The lesson also is that people who hate Reform really hate Reform and that's the majority of people in this country. I've never believed the "Nigel Farage will be our next PM" thing but now I don't believe it even more than ever.

It has been ten years since Jo Cox MP was murdered by a far-right extremist while serving her constituents in Batley and Spen. Today, we pause to remember Jo and her belief that “we have more in common than that which divides us”.

Saw Tricky at Bristol Beacon last night. Good version of Black Steel with Marta singing. Strange decision to light the stage with a murky blue so you could literally not see anyone apart from the keyboards and guitarist. Good gig albeit a little short (maybe an hour?).

To anyone considering a leadership challenge I say - put the country first, not your own interests or those you might claim are the interests of the party. Keir Starmer has a massive democratic mandate from the public, nobody has the right to seek to depose him, nobody. buff.ly/cI7lfBP
