Excellent, important thread from The Nerve: “Young people have already concluded that AI is a mistake. Now it is time for the rest of us to see the truth”: former Google and Facebook investor Roger McNamee AKA @moonalice.com on how the industry’s financial problems may undermine the entire economy

thenerve.newsRoger McNamee: AI’s ‘existential risks’ are all hype. But there's a real, and dangerous, financial bubble buildingRogue technology is not going to kill us. Last night's Last Week Tonight this week: Here’s last night’s story about the rising prominence of extremist beliefs within the Republican Party, what it has to do with the upcoming elections, and why being 31 years old is one of the least cute ages you can possibly be.

youtube.comThe Republican Party & The Far Right: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)YouTube video by LastWeekTonight

This week’s main story is about how more and more white nationalists, antisemites, and Nazi sympathizers seem to be integrating into the Republican Party, how some of them are currently running for office, and how old you can be for JD Vance to consider you “a very young boy.”

My political education began in Brazil, where I lived from 1989-91. I learnt that the only defence we have is "conscientizaçao": raising awareness about the relations between exploiters and exploited, and the violence that underpins them. The Brazilians have once again demonstrated its power. ✊❤️‍🔥
