To all senior management: don't get obsessed with shipping feature by feature that nobody asked for, merely for the sake of temporarily boosting business stats and metrics in the name of "user experience enhancement" which is actually pretty shameless.

all just lies

“What we need to explain to the world: Number one, we are close to creating a genie that can grant any wish. Number two, we are going to make sure that our first wishes broadly benefit humanity” - Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI — This is definitely the opposite of Anthropic’s AI kills all jobs pitch.

My theory is that Liquid Glass & Icon Composer started as a design tool solely for the Photos app icon, and people liked messing with it so much they were like screw the consequences let's just built the entire OS design language on top of this

Jeff Bezos believes AI is going to lead to unprecedented productivity gains which could result in cheaper food and housing. Internally, Amazon employees mock the company’s AI tools, refer to its output as “slop,” and joke about the company’s failed attempt to motivate employees to use AI.

404media.co“Sloppenheimer:” Amazon Employees Mock the Company’s AI on SlackAmazon employees have a Slack channel for memes where the mock and commiserate about the company’s faulty AI coding product.

iOS 27 delivers on the Apple Intelligence promises of 2024 and the Liquid Glass promises of 2025 iOS might be on a 1-year marketing cycle, but empirically it takes 3 years to deliver a polished OS

From a design perspective this is definitely psychological manipulation and dark dark pattern here 😮‍💨

One of my favorite Internet pastimes is clicking NO on passive aggressive promotional upsells, to intentionally mess up the metrics for whatever dumb psychological conversion tricks the product team is trying to pull

Would do anything for the furry kid! 🐈

ai is bad but ai is also reverse engineering my cat feeder camera so i dont have to use their piece of shit app anymore to look at my cats so is ai really all that bad

Finally finished the book Project Hail Mary and caught the movie before it’s gone from cinema… well comparing to the book, there’s still a lot of details omitted out in the movie so yeah, despite a good movie, I still recommend to read the book :))

A "play-it-safe, audit-safe" culture turns bureaucracy into an innovation killer, causing corporates to fall behind competitors and lose market share and yet, management often ignores this because the problem is cultural, not financial.

Dell corporate laptop is so amazingly useless: took 5 min to start up, had a 15-min meeting, left for hibernating and after 3 hours the battery was completely dead. This is a serious joke in power management.

On taste: while some may view it as an innate gift, it is primarily something one learns and develops through conscious effort. For most people, taste is not a priority, particularly within a cultural landscape that values economic output and productivity above all else.

This environment makes the cultivation of a unique personal being a challenging act of individual persistence. It is a quiet form of resistance to insist on quality and human intention in a system designed only for efficiency.

A little UI design tip for engineers: If your app has broken, unfinished features that management forced you to include for business reasons, you can just use this handy little icon to let users know where not to click

Every word resonates with me so much from the past few weeks, feels like a bottomless pit that I’m perpetually falling into and there’s no other way out at the moment except either continuing suffering or quitting for good😮‍💨

I’ve posted it before, but it feels evergreen The two hardest problems in Computer Science are 1. Human communication 2. Getting people in tech to believe that human communication is important

I think we need an inverse thread where we talk about things that normal intelligent people universally agree upon that are for some reason hot takes within your profession
