“Breaking the Silence” the game that @kenfergione.bsky.social and I made during the Ludographic Medicine Residency at St. Anselm with Dr. Loretta Brady and Billy Karugira! Players, after surviving a flood event, write Memory Zines on their experiences, covering eco-grief and sleep hygiene.

More obscure fan art from my 2022 sketchbook! Breq and Seivarden from the novel Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie. I was in DEEP and refused to look at any other fan art until I drew my own interpretations.

found out that my mother in law decided she was aggressively pro trans rights literally by going, I don't know anything about this but everyone who is against trans rights is also against free school lunch, the issue I know and care a lot about, so this must be the correct way to feel about this

NEW: I spoke with current and former EA employees to understand how the latest layoff round played out and the realities of daily life at the U.S. publisher. The short version? EA is controlled by an executive class that "cannot fail, only be failed." Workers, then, will always pay the price.

Brazilians recommending not to amplify right-wing talking points by dunking and quoting, as a winning strategy Next day, my tl is full of people dunking on rfk jr I literally would not have seen the bigotry if it wasn't for y'all repeating it. That's exactly what the Brazilians were on about!

will have a new little daoist print for BEC in 2 weeks :> i was inspired by tibetan thangka paintings. not an aspirational meditation but perhaps something to look at while you imperfectly ponder. i chose wood sorrel compared to lotus flowers because the wood sorrel is a resilient and humble plant

Wow, this is beautifully done. Encourage library & archive folks to take 20 minutes to explore this story and learn more about Indigenous cultural heritage—there's a lot here that's new to me! 📚

This is such bullshit. If the issue actually was that other kids can't get the ball, you can work with the literal three year old on passing, a very useful skill or soccer players. If you can't do that, what are you doing teaching soccer. But I'm betting they can do that. They just didn't.

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

I spoke to the mom of the 3-year-old soccer star who was left "thinking he did something wrong" after a league official called police "due to a disturbance between parents" The youth sports league said they launched a review and reached out to the family

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

thehandbasket.coRepublicans don’t have a Nazi problem—they are the Nazi problemA spate of recent revelations have shown the ideologies and their adherents are one and the same.

This week’s main story is about how more and more white nationalists, antisemites, and Nazi sympathizers seem to be integrating into the Republican Party, how some of them are currently running for office, and how old you can be for JD Vance to consider you “a very young boy.”

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

Hey, since this thread is doing some numbers, don't just like my anti-AI takes, I'm constantly recommending neat indie games and highlighting all the good stuff I come across, so show up for some of that too! Here's a thread about a very wonderful game I've been playing:

Casey S. Pumpkins 🎃@caseyexplosion.bsky.social

Hey folks, added Well Dweller to my Steam Curator, a truly stellar Metroidvania with some very fun traversal mechanics that make platforming a joy, backed by staggeringly gorgeous art and a beautiful melancholy soundtrack. I haven't finished this yet, but I wanted to give it the thumbs up anyway!

A vision of the future of games where everything is slop is a grey goo scenario for the medium. Anyways, here's a thread of demos to check out to counter all the negativity. It's important not to just be against AI, you need to be for something just as vocally, you need to be pro art!

Casey S. Pumpkins 🎃@caseyexplosion.bsky.social

Okay, it's #SteamNextFest and there's a lot of demos out there, so here's a quick thread of suggestions to try out, a lot of these I might not have played, they're just what's tickling my fancy. Let's start with Queen's Domain which is releasing on the 30th!

The idea of the AI developer as someone burgeoning with wonderful, never before seen ideas who just needed the tools to realize them is by and large a fantasy. The reality of the AI developer is someone producing spam at volume who has no ideas of their own, so just clone something popular.

AI proponents cling to the idea that the tech is going to enable boundless creativity, but I've seen what it enables; endless spam. It's enabled people without a single ounce of creativity in their bodies to make endless Balatro clones, genuinely no thoughts of their except Balatro but slop.

Sarah Tillery reposted

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.
