A joke

"I'm expected to answer to views I find utterly disgusting?" Reform's Laila Cunningham feels let down by the councillors highlighted in ITV's undercover report.

I watched the BBC report on this yesterday. The headline was nowhere near what the report was saying. Culture war clickbait

Mark Grimshaw@markgrimshawtism.bsky.social

A fascinating editorial decision from the BBC, to make the headline a scaremongering “AUTISM AND ADHD ARE BEING OVERDIAGNOSED”, and then, four bullet points later, have the author of the report quoted as essentially saying “nah, that’s bullshit, actually”.

While you’re at it Don, can you also change New York, New England, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New London, New Brighton, New Boston and New Windsor to New America too?

The New York Times@nytimes.com

President Trump appeared to suggest that New Mexico should be renamed “New America,” prompting backlash from the state’s Democratic leaders over his latest effort to alter geographic names. Trump has no legal authority to rename any state, which in New Mexico’s case is written into its Constitution.

Dear America. 90 US citizens currently missing in Nepal. Your govt has pledged $500k to help out. That SHOULD tell you all you need to know about how much they really care about you.

Look how all the big tech companies are now flocking to tell us how their AI also hacked into another company with being told to. You want to know the real danger of AI.? It’s the fact these clowns see this as great PR for investors. It’s not AI’s morality we need to worry about.

Over the last nine months, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has run dozens of paid ads that include explicit AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and images of minors alongside sexually suggestive statements, according to details of the ads shared with WIRED.

wired.comMeta Ran Ads That Contained AI-Generated Child Sexual Abuse ImageryMore than 50 offending image and video ads were published across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or Threads, according to Meta’s ad library data. Some ran as recently as this week.

The thing that I find most frightening about the Open AI hack of Face Hugger is that the companies are using these ‘scary’ stories as PR. If not, we’d never hear about them.

Argentina’s rugby players with as much class as their footballing counterparts. Attacking the officials after losing to England. Complaining that England were celebrating too much after the match. After they had taken to the field wearing replica football shirts. It has been a shameful week.

Not that I don’t believe in climate change but this is BS. They’re ad breaks.

Only the U.S could make a game like football (soccer) expensive!

The New York Times@nytimes.com

From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: Developing into a top soccer player requires some degree of privilege in the U.S., as it is expensive. But the primary reason that the U.S. doesn’t produce world-class men’s soccer players boils down to one word: culture.

The treatment of this woman is absolutely outrageous and one of the most egregious corporate violations of free speech I've seen. I have just bought the book as a fuck you to Facebook. It's available here uk.bookshop.org/p/books/care...

An unusual request in the name of archaeological science: Would anyone happen to have a Shetland or Exmoor pony that wouldn’t mind sending some fur samples to me? We’re trying to compare a potentially preserved fur specimen but there’s (perhaps unsurprisingly) few sources on fur fibre diameters!

How dare her!! 🧐🤨 "When people like Kamala Harris send our sons and daughters, our young people, to fight in stupid wars, it is the young generation that carries the burden of that. We're gonna stop sending our young people to far away lands. We are not the policemen of the world."

Dear Clipper Tea. Love the tea but get the f*** out of here with your packaging. I’ve bought green tea by mistake several times. Yes, I am stupid but your packaging is infuriating

There is no doubt that a grand slam in 6 Nations is harder for England. No comparison. Every team ups their game against us. Scotland play 50% better against us than any other team.

I for one am so grateful that the BBC is putting all their investigative resources into the hard hitting journalism around immigrants and how they are getting taxis everywhere and other massive scandals.

The worst single-day crime spree in modern Washington history, of course, took place on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump issued no order to the National Guard to intervene -- Mike Pence did -- and later pardoned the perpetrators.

This is such depressing news for the UK creative community and economy. The lack of risk taking at a time when traditional TV needs it most is negligent. Once the envy of the world, we are now TV format bystanders. It’s a disgrace.
