I’ve been trying to articulate for days now two beliefs about problematic artists. 1. It is counterproductive to react to news an artist you like is problematic by immediately acting like their art has always been bad. 2. Some art only works if you believe the creator is an OK person.

Ghostbusters. The only likable character is the Black guy and I can't even stand the half hour it takes to get to him. Everyone else is a raging asshole and I don't think assholes are funny.

I have GOT to stop trying to cook and write at the same time. That's the second time this week I've left the pasta water to boil away into a cloud because I got into the zone in the other room.

Today is a momentous day for the workers of Arena! After months of planning, waiting and organizing, our dream is finally a reality; the votes have been counted, and our union of UWOTC-CWA has been officially elected. From this day forward, we have a union!

Unexpected benefit to buying a soda streamer for my birthday: testing to make sure the clouded water from my kitchen sink is just bubbles from the weird kinks in the pipes and not something gross getting into my water.

Been working on this series for a couple of months, in between writing gigs. Love how it's turned out. Once again, enjoying your own art is a fantastic feeling. #painting #acrylics #zodiac #astrology #art

Hey, y'all! Me and @ryehickman.bsky.social have a story in this anthology, where we get all gay and creepy with Rosh Hashanah. The whole anthology is full of excellent comics, so you'll definitely want to be alerted once the Kickstarter starts: www.kickstarter.com/projects/sta...

Storms on workdays are fun. Weather in the Puget Sound tends to move west to east, and I'm one of the furthest west WFH employees in the area, so when the storm blows in I get to go, "Oo storm" in the work chat and then watch everyone else chime one by one in over the next 2 hours as it reaches them

Laudatory feedback never goes amiss. And it tends to spur on more of the stuff you like. Now maybe a friend, a peer, or a recognized critic can assume their critique is welcome. Maybe. Not everyone's gonna like your stuff. That's cool. I assume most people don't. Luckily, I don't make it for them.

There is a horror-movie screenwriter on here that I follow. One of his movies delightfully surprised me and made me a fan. I saw the sequel and it didn’t land for me. Guess what I will say if we meet? “Dude I loved (movie 1)….” Nothing gained by anyone talking about 2. Tell creators what you love.

....oh my God there was a raccoon. It came right up to the sliding glass door and stared at Sandy. And Sandy, Mr. Scaredy Cat who dives for his hiding place under the bed at the slightest disturbance, stood his ground behind the glass and hissed at it. Don't think it did anything but. Still. #cats

Heard through the ceiling of my apartment tonight: (cat wailing) Person: No!! (cat wails some more) Person: You do not want that! Spit it out! (even louder wailing) Person: That is a potato! You are an obligate carnivore!! #ahcats #lifeinapartments

Read a variety of comics. Also, read books & play games and watch shows. Have life experiences. The more you grow & learn, the more you'll have to draw on for your work. Also, tell a story you're excited about. If you don't love the story you're telling, it'll weigh on you, trust me.
