People badgering trans folk to vote for their candidate is just them trying to project their guilt about it onto an external factor. The fact is that no matter who you vote for, or if you choose not to vote at all, SOMEBODY is going to end up hurt from your choice, and nobody can absolve that.

People voting for anti-trans candidates seem to think that if they can hector a single trans person into voting for their same candidate that their hands have been cleaned and they're no longer to blame. It's the "some of my best friends are _____" of electoral politics.

All decisions have consequences and you can't pretend to be unaware of them. No road leads you back to the carefree youth where none of this was your problem.

I feel like there's a lot of people, voters and non-voters alike, who really just want a clean choice that leaves them personally not culpable for whatever happens next, and the fact of the matter is that the nature of living in the world means there is no such thing.

I saw a Tumblr screenshot once talking about someone who kept a Starfleet badge pinned, hidden, on the inside of their Ren Faire costume so that when folks would show up doing this in Starfleet uniforms she'd flash her badge and yell at them for violating the Temporal Prime Directive.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

I have at this point written literally hundreds of stories about Trump since 2015. I make it a point in the bulk of them to point out he was the lead proponent of the racist birther conspiracy. The mainstream media has all but disappeared this yet it is the main reason he became potus.

Obama's joke isn't even that the Cheesecake Factory is *bad,* it's that it's *tacky.* and everyone knows it has a ridiculous, maximalist, gilded design even before the Saddam Hussein component of the joke comes in.

Just saw a paywalled article about the Ethan and Hila thing. And no shade to the authors, who of course deserve to be paid for their work, but like, if I ever try to give someone money so I could learn more about those two dipshits I want you to fill me with Coke and Mentos and then seal my mouth.

Also, not for nothing, but there's no way captain dipshit arrived at the phrasing "August Body" all on his own.

The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history. Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.

Yeah, whether or not something will succeed isn't the only metric. I can't successfully do skateboard tricks, but the attempt would still end in a lot of bloodshed.

The essay that we wrote on THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS for Criterion's 4k release is now online. This is a piece about Jame Gumb that addresses how the transgender perception of the character was formed. criterion-v2.herokuapp.com/current/post...

I need you to understand how many times I read this as "Joni Mitchell"

Joe Mitchell: "Thank God you're building the ballroom. Thank God you're getting rid of those awful bike lanes. We don't ride bicycles in Iowa."

People were uncomfortable sharing drinking fountains with black people. Their need for comfort doesn't supercede others' need for liberty.

Florid Man@humintel.bsky.social

That's great. What about the women that would be uncomfortable sharing a restroom with a trans woman? Because that's still most of the -extremely progressive- women I know. (I don't know any MAGA women)

BREAKING: COLUMBUS, OHIO (AP) - Ohio GOP Gov. DeWine says Vivek Ramaswamy was wrong to run campaign ad featuring Democratic opponent's estranged mother.

"The Republicans want to finger your children for playing sports" is an objectively true statement and one the Democrats could make a killing with if they weren't constantly saying "Well maybe a little fingering is worth it to keep 7th-grade soccer fair" to mollify an imaginary voter.

Doctors and nurses are voicing their objections. I-638 would require EVERY girl who wants to participate in sports to go through biological sex verification. That means expensive, invasive, and utterly gross examinations. Protect our kids and let them play. Vote NO on I-638

The appropriate response, the ones voters will actually respect, is loudly pointing at the MAGA chud and saying "THIS GUY IS CALLING FOR STATE-SANCTIONED CHILD MOLESTATION SO YOUR KID CAN PLAY LITTLE LEAGUE WHAT IS THIS PERVERT'S FUCKING PROBLEM."

You can't appease bigoted voters by dabbling in bigotry. They know when you're not doing it with your whole chest. The only way forward is to be as loud and as angry in denigrating anti-trans sickos as they are in being bigoted, and only one of you is going to come away from that sounding unhinged.

This is the problem with trying to meet voters in this hypothetical middle. If you cede to the MAGA jackasses that trans kids in sports, illegal immigrants, coal mining jobs or whatever thing is a *problem* then voters will look at you both and then vote for whoever seems angrier about it.

Like, you've got two candidates, one of whom is like "we should respect trans children but also sports are important" and the other is like "we should fist every child until we can taste the chromosomes" the first guy just sounds like a bitch talking out of both sides of his mouth BECAUSE HE IS.

Convicted, sure. But that guy is only in America because his whole family came down with a case of fleeing-the-country-like-a-bitch back in South Africa; I doubt that being given hundreds of billions of dollars has made him more predisposed to sitting still and taking his medicine.

There is a doofus currently arguing here that no "creative talent" would choose to write tie-ins, and since I just did a panel this weekend on why creative talents choose to write IP, here are a few reasons. Non-financial reasons, for fun and because frankly it usually doesn't pay that well.

To far-left folks saying looting and burning in France is normal and not being manipulated by extremist puppet masters to the joy of Le Pen/Putin/Trump, I would note that the US is also seeing a form of protest that has historical precedent and is usually much more productive in achieving its aims.
