Ridiculous

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

A beautiful tribute. RIP Walter.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

NEW BRIGHT SPOTS: Even on 100% gas power, heat pumps cut emissions by ~48% and EVs by about half. The authors of an “electrification doesn’t cut emissions” paper made a series of compounding mistakes and used misleading assumptions. Here's why. janrosenow.substack.com/p/heat-pumps...

janrosenow.substack.comHeat pumps and EVs cut emissions, even on a gas-only gridA widely reported paper claimed heat pumps and EVs deliver no carbon savings until the grid is clean. Here's why it's wrong.

This all seems very worrying. If the state allies with far right militias to subjugate and terrorise its own citizenry then that's not a very promising state of affairs.

A Far Right militia marched into the city centre of #Nice yesterday during the 24 October mobilisation. When it got there, the fascists rampaged, attacking protesters with missiles and kicking them to the ground. All whilst the police and gendarmes stood by and allowed it. 📹 ICI Azur

What's happening in France is hard to justify but easy to understand. In 1981 the UK had riots because 1 in 10 were unemployed and couldn't afford to eat. In 2026, 1 in 5 are IN WORK and can't afford to eat. What happens when AI doubles that number? What levels of policing will control it?

This is the key point for me. They need to be there because everyone is there? Well if you move and explain why, people will need to follow.

Tony Yates@t0nyyates.bsky.social

I think this is not an adequate excuse. Journalists want to hear what politicians have to say. If Labour MPs agreed collectively to move and explain why, regularly, journalists would use other platforms to pick them up.

The idea that the US deliberately humiliated Russia in the 1990s is a bizarre myth. We were overtly solicitous and supportive of them and their hurt feelings. We just didn’t accept their claim that the nations or Eastern Europe could never seek their own destiny.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

The US and the West welcomed Russia into the community of nations after the Cold War. Investment poured in. The G7 turned into G8. The idea that Poland, Estonia, etc. forming their own foreign relations was so unfair to Moscow that Russia is entitled to murder Ukrainians 20 years later is insane.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.
