This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

Hmmm it appears I can see lapel pins on that fascist and also poppies making political statements. Those Union Jacks are also being used for political purposes. Where's the blurring or reformating BBC? Don't tell me you're just bigoted transphobes and mouthpieces of a conservative establishment 😲

This is partially to do with the hollowing out of BBC newsrooms and their desperation to fill airtime. BBC news 24 should be closed to save money and the journalism budget increased for regional news.

might as well write a strongly worded letter... It's WAY beyond complaining to the BBC... straight to Westminster is where the complaints should go... there's a secretary in need of her arse kicking!

This is absolutely intolerable. How is this impartial? When is the Government going to grasp the nettle and remove all the political appointees at the BBC replacing them with appointees based on ability and a sworn commitment to the old impartiality? The BBC might also then recover some viewers.

I don't want to keep paying TV licence for this. I've seen family members get brainwashed by GB News in real-time, I don't need the BBC to turn into a second, more popular GB News.

Completely exhausting, particularly when their complaints procedure is not fit for purpose either. The BBC are in a death spiral; revenues decreasing, costs up, an increasingly apathetic / disaffected audience + management who’ve pledged allegiance to an unpopular far-right party

Chicken & egg justifications, coverage leads to popularity, incessant focus on polling etc. The rise & disgraced/incompetent fall of Mayor Boris should've been a salutory lesson but then supported diminishing returns until tories ran out of leaders & then banked on foreign-funded Farage. Woeful.

I believe our Powys LibDem MP had lots to say when they hosted Question Time in Brecon a couple of weeks ago and didn’t even bother to invite him. The Refuk Senedd guy (defected from Tories, of course!) was there but not the MP! What the actual fuck?!?

I'm sure they will offer the same opportunity to the LibDems and the Greens... once Hell has frozen over.

Quit 6music because I couldn't handle the pro-Farage news updates every 30 mins. Plenty of their listeners are not that politically engaged so it was (probably still is) an industrial scale brain boiling exercise. Wild because if Farage gets in the BBC will quickly follow the NHS onto the bonfire.

Just watched Chris Mason discussing Andy Burnham wanting closer ties to the EU. He was getting near to the end and he hadn't mentioned Reform but I'm afraid he couldn't help himself and had to tell us what Nigel thought about it.

At this point I think we have to assume that a Labour government approves of the BBC's support for the far right, though I can't for the life of me work out why. It's a staggering betrayal by Nandy & co. At this stage I'd happily de-fund BBC News.

The BBC is just the UK version of Fox, the mouthpiece for a fascist party. The BBC needs defunding, made subscription only, see how long it survives then.

Total abandonment of broadcast standards and fair representation of all political parties. Give the same coverage to Greens, Lib Dems and progresive parties - I dare you BBC!

Personally I find party political broadcasts a turn off even though I am very interested in politics...maybe that might be a possibility to consider!

After defending TV Licensing ever since the 90s, I am edging SO close to just uninstalling iPlayer from my PS5, and canceling/picking a fight with them, recently. I'm so fed up with funding this once great, but now very broken institution

Cancelled my TV licence many years ago, purely down to the right-wing bias since the GBNews guy took over things. I’m thinking this was a good choice.

The #BBC is run by ex public schoolboys who were taught entitlement, racism & antisemitism from an early age. It’s why #BBC relentlessly promotes entitled, racist, antisemitic workshy cunts relentlessly.

I’ve been so bristly at any mention of the defund the BBC nonsense. I really wish the BBC execs cared about its future as much. Why would anyone look up to / defend an institution that’s given up on the common good? It’s incredibly sad and worrying if they lose the status of source of truth.

The BBCNews board, production team and presenters all desperately want a fascist government in the UK. There is no possible alternative explanation for the public funded national news service to behave like GBNews on steroids. Shameful. Heads should roll.

Haven't paid for over a decade. That was initially because the BBC do absolutely fuck all for the people of the Isle of Man but we still have to pay exactly the same fee as everyone else. Now they've morphed into a full on right wing mouthpiece they can take a hop, skip and fuck off.

This has to be investigated and challenged. Where is the minister for media? Oh its still Lisa Nandy and shes to busy making sure the antisemitism is beaten out of the Clangers a Camberwick Green, by the way Lisa have the Banana Splits been proscribed yet?

There is something very wrong at the BBC. They report voters’ views re the EU based on a simplistic interpretation of the 2016 referendum. That motivations for voting out in 2016 were quite varied and that ten years of experience and voter churn might have altered attitudes is routinely ignored.

Turkeys voting for Christmas in the useless belief that if they blow smoke up their fundament Reform won't cancel their licence fee IF they gain power....

This is utterly scandalous. I hope the public see this for what it is - naked BBC bias. I also hope the BBC are effectively giving Farage and Reform enough rope to hang themselves, by showing the public just how shallow, populist and impractical their policies actually are.

Appalling and now blatant bias towards Reform by our BBC newsroom … guided by right winger Robbie Gibb and encouraged by the new DG presumably. Just what is Lisa Nandy doing all day? Get this sorted Labour government! Or move aside.

I want the old style BBC News, three times a day, available on catchup with serious analysis and proper editorial standards. We don’t need rolling 24 hour news. Bring back heavyweight journalism. The BBC is a vital public service it should be trustworthy serious & factual not sensationalist.

Easily done now Labour are in the government, they only need to start dropping hints about scrapping the licence fee.

It is an absolute disgrace. The BBC to me used to be where I went for sensible balance, but now is a cess pit for the right. I truly hope whoever is pushing this agenda is removed from the helm.

The final straw for me was when they posted the headline 'Reform plans WOULD lead to a £50 billion pound saving.' I refuse to pay for Reform propaganda.

This was their reply. They even admitted Reform hadn't explained themselves, but posted that headline anyway! '.headline did not make sufficiently clear that these were Reform UK proposals and did not adequately attribute the claimed £50bn saving or explain what the proposed savings would entail.'

Why? The simplest answer is usually the best. Because they're BORED and attracted by energy... Just as the simplest explanation of Trump's fealty is that he's SCARED of Putin...

Taking press questions: who’s the first they call on…. Christopher Hope, political editor of GB News… that Farage has a show on. BBC - you are platforming an Orban-style circus and pretending it’s legitimate.

Lisa Nandy Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport 100 Parliament St London SW1A 2BQ Robbie Gibb: He was an editorial advisor for GB News prior to its launch in 2021 ➡️ He joined the BBC Board as a non-executive director in 2021. 🧵 …

The BBC needs to be cut loose from the licence fee, it’s offensive having to pay it when you see this. They keep asking us , what have the BBC ever done for us ? I would ask a different question, what use are the BBC ?

I’m in my 60s and have loved the BBC all my life. I used to say that I would be happy to pay twice the cost of the license fee. It’s been there for me in the darkest hours and at the best of times. I’m done with it. It can’t be trusted. I take absolutely no pleasure in writing this.

They want you not to pay your license - because then when the BBC is sold, no doubt to a far right billionaire, they’ll pay less for it. BBC News is sabotaging our forthcoming elections so Reform can sell it (part of Reforms manifesto). It’s clear to me why BBC News supports Reform.

Given we've been warned to prepare 3 days of supplies, and that we could be at war within 1,000 days, isn't it time to take a long, cold, hard look at the Russia party?

When do you see breaking news coverage for the Greens or Lib Dems? Never, is the answer. How much coverage per MP does each party get? The BBC is not an equal opportunities organisation.

I would genuinely like to know their justification for this ?Previous complaints have been batted back with the line “they are a major political party who were leading in the polls “,they still have only 8 MP’s and are falling further and further behind in the polls what is the excuse?

I turned on R4 Today for the first time in years only to hear a 30 minute 'response' (to a budget that is yet to happen) from Reform.

There are *many* fine people working in BBC News, both at local & national level. But a few key posts have been handed to those whose aims can at best be described as dubious. But a handful is all that's needed...

Jenrick's problem is it's very difficult to carry off the political hard man shtick when you look like and have the manner of Piers Fletcher-Dervish.

Most of our institutions remain compromised by the far right. It's why I despaired at last GE when people were convinced we just had to vote the Tories out and everything would snap back to 22nd June 2016.

I view it through the Necessary/Sufficient paradigm. Getting and keeping the Tories (especially post-Johnson Tories) and Farage out is not *sufficient* to fix things - god, have the last few years proven that - but it is a *necessary* prerequisite for making any kind of progress.

The heart-breakingly disappointing way Labour acted in opposition told me that was never going to happen. But I never thought Labour would drift so far to the right as to make Cameron's austerity coalition look left of centre by comparison.

How do we demonstrate our disgust? It’s easy to say stop paying the licence fee but aside from BBC “news” there is very good output I still enjoy. Seems to me there is no other way to counter this 🤷‍♂️

I think you have it in one. Nandy is going to take a big axe to the BBC. Few progressive voters will object now. Ironically Reform voters will cheer.

I feel like I'm the only one that read this "Former Google executive Matt Brittin is the Director-General designate and new head of the BBC" and so what else is there to talk about? Cruella De Ville in charge of RSPCA? Puppies seem to be less safe, let's discuss?

It really is a hollow foreign attack on British society. Leveraging a disaffected group of nutters. Interesting to see it's fortunes fluctuate, as sources of funding and bot centers wax and wane.

Robbie Gibb needs to go. Now! I have written to my Labour MP to suggest that Lisa Nandy actually takes some action with regard to political appointees to the BBC board. No reply, as yet. Why does the current government allow Reform propaganda each day, and also allow Gibb's "little helpers," notably

..Kuenssberg, Mason, Bruce and Robinson, to bash away at Labour and promote their mate Farage without comeback? Not a joke any more. Gibb appears to have twofold mission. One, get Farage into Downing Street before he "pops his clogs, and two, destroy the "impartial" national broadcaster from within.
