Could scream about this - methane is about 86 times more potent a greenhouse gas than CO2 over a 20-yr period, so this is quite literally 86 times worse than emitting the same volume of CO2. The only silver lining is the fact that its atmospheric lifespan is around 12 years.

Bloomberg News@bloomberg.com

Trump is set to unveil a plan to dial back federal requirements designed to slash methane emissions from oil and gas operations, casting the proposal as a way to encourage more domestic energy production and lower costs.

There is no hell fiery enough for these monsters

George Monbiot@georgemonbiot.bsky.social

Monstrous beyond all reckoning. The US is using remote sensing *designed for humanitarian purposes* for the opposite purpose, potentially drowning civilians en masse. Trump hates Somalis. His troops appear to be exploiting the weather to help slaughter them. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

The almost detached delivery, with no obvious crescendo or variation in intensity, the mournfully echoing depth of the instrumental layers and the distinctly slower (in comparison to most of their work) pace all combine to convey an aching loneliness, while the lyrics are an odd but effective

touching if appreciated/ not misplaced or just sad if unwanted, but there are too many other unsettling details to support any interpretation that isn't at least a little more twisted. "Close your eyes forever"? I don't see that this meaning anything other than death and this is clearly the sense in

which the same line is used in You Miss Me, which... is concerning). I'll admit that I overlooked Japan at first, but this one has really grown on me and I'm now completely hooked. The 'yeah's in the bridge annoy me but otherwise it's quite spectacular.

Dopamine Chamber isn't terrible, but Mimesis, Japan and Marianne are the only real highlights and the writing lacks the originality of earlier work (ironic, given how irritatingly pretentious they seem to have become). Mimesis suffers from a weak final section ("if you're a star"? Cliché much?) but

sonically it has an interesting depth and the darkly ambiguous lyrics are very much up my street (is "your indifference won't make me disappear" a sweet "I can wait", a threat, or just desperation? The former doesn't seem compatible with "you can't blame nobody else", and in any case could be either

Admittedly I am a complete sucker for that screeching, scrunching electronic tone and the high contrast structure but this is just addictive. Even the resolution is damn near perfect: achieving that clean a finish without leaving anything feeling unresolved is no mean feat.

So glad that I am a financial genius and hold my entire net worth in Meta shares because AI make stonk go UP (ad infinitum, ofc)

Financial Times@financialtimes.com

Breaking news: Meta is planning to raise $95bn in a stock offering to fuel its massive AI infrastructure spending, backed by chipmakers Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom, who will act as cornerstone investors. ft.trib.al/VS3Nhnq

Also a reminder if you have a bonfire to check for any hibernating wildlife (e.g. hedgehogs) before lighting it!

your yearly PSA: want to do something positive wrt the ecosystem while saving yourself a bunch of time and effort? skip the bagging and just rake leaves into a pile wherever convenient (bonus points if you do it under a tree). www.nps.gov/articles/000...

Preferably just don't have one, though - the CO2 emissions are generally the least of your concerns, as the combustion is so incomplete that carbon monoxide and particulates are released, in addition to other pollutants from impurities in the wood/ any rubbish you're burning

I really need the next person (*cough* right-wing politician *cough*) who whines about 'the war on motorists' to explain why exactly they think the convenience of car owners is more important than the health of those required to breathe London air (even assuming there were no other benefits)

I wrote about this on my pyramid tomb wall in 4801 BCE but Reviewer 2 was so insufferable it never got published in the papyrus journal I submitted it to.

Cannot believe that my past self finished my hand cream and failed to replace it. What a selfish, inconsiderate arsehole. Why would she do this to me.

What does Kemi Badenoch think the level of immigration should be? Is everybody in the media & politics going to act surprised when the year to June 2026 statistic (on Nov 26th) falls below net 100k for first time this century Best estimate of net migration *now* (4th Q 2026) is zero, or negative

Weird, I could have sworn the Onion used to do satire? Anyhoo, guess we can be relieved that he's taking a break from actively undermining public health

Imagine being so incredibly pathetic that you trot out both "no homo" and "kinda gay" (*snotty juvenile sniggering*) in the same breath

JD Vance: "I love you too sir. In a totally platonic way, to be clear. I'm the vice president, not James Talarico."

The c and v keys are dangerously close together when trying to spell the name Percy in a rush, and the same goes for j and h for Joe. HR teams should really take this into consideration.

From a purely instinctive auditory perspective I balk slightly at the... not quite abrupt, but messy, ending. This is how death arrives, though, even when it's not a complete surprise.
