When we see it, we have to call it what it is plainly: blocking the right to vote. Millions of Americans have already voted and more will vote between now and next Tuesday. That right is absolutely sacred.

Some people think rights are a limited resource, and the government has a big sack of them, and if someone else has rights there are less rights in the sack for you.

Thread, and article.

I felt I really needed to write about Rowling's essay, not because it's new, but because it's so poisonous and ugly that it felt like sanitizing her not to acknowledge it on my trans news site.

Crap. For a second I thought they did impersonate MIT. Nope, it's **the** MIT. The same MIT that caused Swartz's demise for doing almost the exact same thing, just without corporate backing.

I'm SO glad this technology didn't exist when my unmotivated, unmedicated, ADHD-riddled ass was in high school and college for computer science. There's NO way I would've become the writer or programmer I am today if I'd reached for AI slop dispensers whenever things got hard or I ran out of time.

but also, suggesting that children should use ai to write their texts is like suggesting that children should use calculators to learn arithmetics you’re not going to learn a thing by using the tool specifically built to let you avoid doing the thing

I hate this so much. The first draft is the MOST IMPORTANT DRAFT. Learning how to structure an argument and think it through and find holes in your own thinking is a large part of how critical thinking develops.

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

(Also thread.)

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

If NTY, WaPo, etc, won't speak truth to power, other outlets will have to step up while they still can. Press freedom affects *all* media, so some of those rising outlets will be ones you wouldn't immediately expect, but who get that it matters.

“We want to ensure knowledge of the President’s persistent sexual abuse doesn’t affect how people vote” is Earth incinerating moral depravity.

CBS deleted this post and reposted it admitting that their original one was misleading. And the misleading post from CBS was intentionally misleading, not an innocent mistake. CBS continues to lose credibility.

This drives me CRAZY. I grew up playing sports w/ boys. I played on a U12 boys select soccer team, b4 switching to a U12 girls team that kept beating us. Nobody had any issue with any of it. Youth sports have never had the strict sex/gender boundaries that “XX-XY” activists are now trying to defend.

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

I'm asking my fellow Jews in Michigan to help elect the first Muslim American to the U.S. Senate—a devoted dad, a scholar, a visionary thinker, and a genuinely good dude. Let's be the people we hope others will be. Islamophobia and antisemitism feed the same beast. Let's starve that MFer.

Interesting that the Heritage Foundation, the conservative think tank behind Project 2025, is recognizing that anyone who actually follows their recommendations will need criminal pardons. Wonder if they put that somewhere in the fine print.

“Several conservative organizations …— including the Heritage Foundation and American Moment — have pressed White House counsel to either prepare pardons or put in place funding for the legal fees necessary to defend junior staffers from criminal and congressional probes or potential lawsuits.”

Trump & the Supreme Court think ICE should have more immunity to local laws than the British Crown soldiers had under Boston law. Notably, it was our second President, John Adams, who represented the soldiers at trial. Demanding ICE have no more immunity than Redcoats seems a minimal demand.

We are in the middle of the constitutional crisis, of which wild unaffordablilty is the result. The President is making very random decisions—tariffs, budget, war—without any democratic accountability and it is tanking the economy.

We already have flying cars. They're called helicopters. They're really expensive and there are good reasons you have to have a pilot license and work with air traffic control to fly them. Putting jets on a sedan is not going to result in a better vehicle or transportation experience in any way.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry attacking Brad Lander - a self-described liberal Zionist - by name, simply for doing protective presence, should be the final sign that the Israeli government would gladly sacrifice every last Jew in Diaspora to dominate more Palestinians with impunity.
