All this hullabaloo about whether Gen Z should bring iced coffee to an interview is bizarre for me. I've interviewed candidates and the only thing going through my mind is "can this person be a rockstar at what I need them to do?" Iced coffee is not a valid predictor of work ethic, so why care?

God, grant me the courage to change the things I can and incredible new powers to change the things I can't.

I have tried to do long distance tech support with computer illiterate people before. This is absolutely an act of charity and self-sacrifice that the bible encourages....

NEW: Pope Leo XIV’s brother, John, told Italian media that the pope helped him file his tax return and, over a video call, got him back into a computer he had locked himself out of. Prevost propped his iPad on the dead machine and asked his brother what to do. “Because I’m computer illiterate.”

TikTok has incredible moderation team. Our InfoWars video about Multiple Horse Theory — the idea that there are many horses in the world and not just one — has been fully deemed misinformation and lost the formal appeals process. Confirmed by Larry Ellison: There is only one horse on Earth.

Tonight Argentina played like they couldn't lose and Cabo Verde played like they could win. Although Argentina won, Cabo Verde proved they deserve to be in the World Cup and are my new fav team. No joke.

I did 1:55 on the elliptical at the gym. While running, I remembered we needed milk, but there's a grocery store next door. I could grab some on my way home. Lucky I caught my reflection first. I had two big sweat spots under my boobs. I would have looked like I was lactating on my way to get milk

The release of the Epstein files makes me think of Corey Feldman, who years ago warned about how many elites were child predators and how many people were tolerant or facilitated it. People didn't treat him well or take him seriously enough. These files vindicate him in a lot of ways

Is it just me or was Knives Out: Wake up deadman actually really well done? I feel like when writers bring in discussions of religion, it can either feel preachy or judgemental. But this - it felt balanced, thought provoking, and remained entertaining

I have to work tomorrow and with time zones, I can't call in and listen to the Oregon TRO hearing, so please, someone liveskeet it so I can read a play by play tomorrow. I want to know the tone of voice used, who interrupts who, and any "oh shit" moments Thank you kindly!

The Supreme Court - in theory, about what is permissible under the constitution. In practice - whatever the guy that gave me my lifetime appointment wants to do is just fine by me. I might justify it, I might not

For no particular reason, just thinking about the scene in V for Vendetta where Gordon Deitrich decides to air a sketch that wasn't approved by the gov. Evey asks him if he's worried and he said no, he's popular, he'll get a slap on the wrist. His popularity did not protect him. He was black bagged

My cat has no attention span. He loves wet food so much that I will give him a can of wet food, he will be scarfing it down, and then I will open a second can to give to another cat and he will came running down the stairs to get it. Bless his one brain cell

Labour Day is important for me. Unions and the labour movement have given me so much, like others, such as fighting for living wages, the weekend, vacation and sick days, etc. But it's more personal for me. My father was mistreated at work for years. It started small but grew more toxic.

He walked away with a sweet early retirement deal, which was best because who wants to work for a boss that undermines you all the time? But to have someone in your corner, with teeth, that can say "this isn't right" means the world to someone broken by mistreatment

I don't *love* my union because it does a lot of stuff I disagree with - but I do value them and the resources they provide. I know I have options if things get nasty. We spend 40+ hours a week working. It is a huge part of our lives. Having a healthy and safe work environment means the world to me

Finally, he refused to do work above his classification without being promoted to that classification. His boss refused and tried to punish him for refusing work above his pay grade. My Dad got the union involved and when he showed his receipts, the union fought like heck for him

Grade 10 science class. It was nearing the end of the semester and the teacher did not give a fuck anymore. He asked us what distance/time gave us. We answered "Speed". He said, "That's what we're watching today" and we watched Speed with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock

Whatever the gov can do to your enemies, it can do to you too - we need to be very careful when we determine the criteria for denaturalization

Senator Paula Simons 🇨🇦@senatorpaulasimons.bsky.social

On a similar note - be careful what you wish for. When I am evaluating new bills before the Senate, I like to ask myself, “How might this new power be used or abused in the hands of a different kind of Prime Minister?”

The best part about therapy is that you can say "I didn't feel like doing the homework and here's why" and suddenly it's a breakthrough and emotional awareness and I'm growing as a person because I'm learning how to say 'no'

Watch The Wicker Man from the 1970s as it actually had good reviews on rotten tomatoes and thought I would give it a try. There is an excessive amount of singing. I also feel like this would go down better if I was a tad bit high?

Asking my husband about the theories behind fascism and he managed to turn it into a conversation about typography. Apparently Fraktur was considered very "German" by the nazis, until someone said it had Jewish roots, and they literally switched the writing style in Germany to distance themselves

Apparently fraktur was developed in the middle ages to write Latin, so it's not really German in origin and there's no real factual basis to the "Jewish" influence. It was just a weird antisemitic allegation of the time

Question for my American friends. There is a lot of talk about voter registration right now, which is dramatically different than in Canada. In Canada, if you file taxes, you just check a box that says to share your info with Elections Canada, which keeps things up to date

They do not want to turn voters away. They do not like long lines. They want lots of accessible locations that are close to you. They are trying to get more people to vote, not less. Sure, there are sometimes investigation into voter fraud, but most of the time it's a nothingburger and definitely

not widespread or systemic. Most cases are like, elderly people that forgot that they voted in the advanced polls and try to vote on election day. Making it difficult to vote doesn't serve citizens. So, what do Americans do if they lose their wallets? Or get their citizenship a few days before?

You can register on the same day as voting. There are always heartwarming stories of New Canadians getting citizenship a day or two before the election and then bringing their paperwork to the polls to show that they can vote in Canada for the first time /2

If you just moved and Elections Canada doesn't have your current address, you can show pieces of mail that you have received with the new address. If you lose your wallet, there are ways that you can swear a solemn oath that you are who you say you are and have a neighbour vouch for you /3

My elderly father called to tell me that my mother is in the hospital with covid. She has other health conditions and the covid is stressing her body and it can't cope. I asked when the last time she had her vaccine was and he went on an anti-vaccine rant.

He refuses to get vaccinated but also refuses to do anything to reduce his risk because covid is not a big deal. My mother is literally hospitalized with the illness because it is a big deal for her body. But he gets to "stick it to the liberals" by not getting vaccinated.

I know he was reaching out for emotional support in dealing with my mom's chronic health issues, and I want to be the kind of person that he can reach out to, but I can't take his conspiracy theory bs either. I can't pretend that it's okay to put your loved ones at risk because you read a blog once

He said that more people had died from the covid vaccine than covid. I asked him point blank if he believed millions of people had died from the vaccine. He told me he didn't know how many people had died, but it was more than from covid. I ended up hanging up on him.

Look, I'm just a silly Canadian, but if you need to cite Dred Scott to make your legal argument, your legal argument is based on bad law and probably racist. And I don't know why we should give the benefit of the doubt to people who make those types of arguments

I'm not saying that violence is okay, or that she was justified. But you take a person who is mentally suffering, falsely imprison them for decades, and subject them to the poor conditions of jail, you are not going to get a mentally healthy person who is fully accountable for their actions.

Erin Fogg says Free Link@criminalerin.bsky.social

Personally if I was severely mentally ill to the point of spending most of my childhood in psych wards and I was wrongfully locked in prison for 40 years for a brutal murder a cop did, I might do a bit of violence here and there too idk
