If you want to know the real me, then you need to know that at any given time, roughly 10% of my processing power is revving on the subject of quilts and quilting. I typically have multiple projects in various states of completion. Here's a sampling of quilts I've finished over the past few years.

The core argument from an upcoming piece; something I've come to view as nearly an iron rule in BigCo's: Going from decent to excellent performance is a technical challenge, but moving from poor to decent performance is fundamentally a management and culture problem.

Replying to @infrequently.org

Going fast enough to become "dial tone" changed user behaviour and expectations in a hugely positive way for the product. The "no such thing as too fast until you prove it" lesson is everywhere, and anyone who tells you that you can just add an animation and move on is a danger to your product.

The research done by @tammyeverts.com about rules of thumb for good perf not being universal is on the web only, but I bet my bottom dollar that the same holds for mobile: that if your perf targets, ceiling or floor, are not based on your specific app and user base, you might want to reassess.

Mobile teams deserve their Core Web Vitals moment. That’s why Embrace is building Core Mobile Vitals: a rigorous, user-focused framework for understanding mobile app performance through the experiences users actually notice. Read more from @tammyeverts.com: shorturl.at/5A8Ye

I've been fascinated by slime molds for years. When my kids were little, I'd show them slideshows online for fun. (To their credit, they also found them cool.) So here's your slime mold of the day – elaeomyxa ceriferaour – via citizen scientist and author Sarah Lloyd. sarahlloydmyxos.wordpress.com

Glad to stumble upon this post by Margaret-Anne Storey. It echos some of my recent experiences with Generative AI. It's very quick to spin up something that is quite large and complex and you don't know how it works. And a lack of understanding is technical debt. margaretstorey.com/blog/2026/02...
