Toronto! The municipal election is happening tomorrow, and your vote could change the course of public transit for the next four years. See which candidates will take a stand for transit riders, and see if their transit commitments conflict with their track record: www.ttcriders.ca/links

some time in the past few weeks the rail in a hand me down wardrobe failed - i'm certain nothing to do with the mass amount of clothing i hung from it! so starting this morning around 8 i took moved garments around 2 wardrobes and a small closet, bought a shelf for the broken wardrobe and reorged

most of it. i also managed to purge a decent amount. i still have laundry to fold and to do the seasonal switch but i start at a new location tomorrow and i have to vote so i'm hoping to spend the rest of the day lying down.

when your childhood was not good but because of where you grew up parts of it come off as almost whimsical!

fortunately they tore down my public school yonks ago and replaced it with some suburban type housing. sadly tho, Romeo is now forever alone - i went to Juliet (in case it isn't obvious i didn't go to school here but in Stratford, ON where all the schools are named after Shakespeare characters)

i live in ward 14. today i took a walk from north of danforth to Gerrard square and managed to see one Yelly Guy sign. i know there aren't great choices in this campaign but we've already lived thru 2 ford's and we don't need the mini me version. do what you gotta do but please vote.

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

if the yelly guy gets elected this is the future site of all yer bike lanes.

It is beautiful and quiet on the slopes of the valley. No one else seems to be on the trail today, just me. And I can see why. The trails snakes up the ravine and down to the river to only go back up. It's a hike to ve in here. #RavineRambles #LoveTheRavines ##DonValley

Olivia Chow is likely going to win the Toronto mayoral election on Monday, but the fact that Brad Bradford is even close to her in the polls says so many things about where we are as a province and a city, and none of them are great

Toronto municipal election night in 1940. In the first scene, Eaton’s switchboard operators record the vote tallies from the polling stations. Those numbers were run to Old City Hall, in the second photo, where another team of women tabulated the numbers on adding machines.

Debating is not one of Chow’s strengths. Bradford, on the other hand, has spent the past few years speaking almost exclusively in CP24-ready soundbites.

Remember when we were 'sold' AI as a way to free us up so we could do art...

UBI Works@ubiworks.bsky.social

Even human dancers are being replaced. Honestly, kinda impressive but also sign of the times to come. Looking back, UBI will have been obvious -- no labour is safe.

The part of this that begins with "Line 5 is owned by" tells you a lot about what is wrong in Ontario right now.

Bradford is NOT the change this city needs. We do need change, but he is not it. We are the 4th largest city in North America, and we deserve better than him. We lived through the Ford years, we don't need another 'ford.

Toronto you too. There's a lot of silliness going on.

Do not trust the polls. Do not allow yourself to become complacent. Vote early — and get your friends and family to vote. Do not let Elon, Big Tech, Big Oil, AI, and the billionaire class buy this election. We outnumber them — and we're the only ones that can put an end to this nightmare.

Bad traffic has a connection to ridesharing in the same way another conservative bugbear, motorcycle style e-bikes, is a symptom of the explosion of food delivery apps. But we can't take quick sushi delivery from the people, so instead we'll punish poor workers making the deliveries.

I used the library as a sanctuary away from a not great home as a kid so was introduced to their value at a young age. I am still a heavy user of the library to this day. I stick pretty close to S Walter Stewart my home branch but maybe I should pop my head into more locations. #imlibrarypeople

Something I mind amusing, and even more ironic, is how much safety wear the guys removing the bike lanes need to be in proximity to traffic. High viz, steel toes, hard hats, training, police traffic control creating buffer space for them, while removing the same hard won buffer for so many more.

These are not professional protestors. they are families, kids, parents, community members, friends, the young, the old, cyclists, drivers, pedestrians, those who use mobility devices - they are regular citizens that are standing up for what is right and safe.

Please remember what you are seeing and who is fighting to keep streets safe and who is watching them become dangerous. I talk a lot about road safety messaging from authorities being performative and this is exactly why.

A cop car carrying a flashing neon sign that says "DOUG FORD HATES YOU." Perfect, no notes, thanks for the great visual @ TV writers of the universe!

i wholly support this incentive and i hope they lower it to at least 40 trips but... and it's sort of a big one. my discounted monthly metropass scheme is still less expensive than this (it's just i have to pay up front). so we're starting. but it still needs to be better.
