Developing a hex grid strategy game
++++ He / Him ++++
Check out the published games I've worked on:

When trying to move into an occupied cell, you can now spend all your remaining steps to push the occupant away!
Also updated enemy heuristics so they know to push allies closer to the player, & crush the player against walls >:)

The "best-use case" of AI tooling makes them no better than asset packs
"I don't have the resources to make music / models" used to just be solved by buying an asset pack, and still is
Hell I'd argue most asset packs are higher quality & cheaper than AI
AI's entire selling point is "the automation of creating digital goods"
Except digital goods can already be infinitely copied, so there's literally no value to the creation of "new goods" to be automated
I wish the character creator made me look stupider
settled on the default character because none of them looked dumb enough
How come my boss gets to dress like this & I just get to be some generic nobody with a 100 yard stare & plain white clothes
Started Belmont's Curse
Art style is banger, but devs needa learn how to moderate the use of controller vibration
I don't want to have to set down my controller & hear violent buzzing noises when trying to watch a cutscene
Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games.
You've got my support 💖
3D Trails are banger 👀
Had to write my own trails for my attack animations, but might just pivot to the new ones as mine are held together by hopes & duct tape
The 4.8 release cycle reaches an ever-important milestone with its very first beta snapshot: #GodotEngine 4.8 beta 1 arrives! 🎉
We've prepared a feature-packed blog post showcasing the main highlights for this new version:

seeing people genuinely suggest that the game awards are rigged for gta 6 is so funny because i promise you if there’s one thing you don’t need to trick gamers into doing it’s celebrating the very expensive and highly marketed release as an artistic masterpiece. they will do that for free
AI's gotta be the first movement to have all its supporters boast about how dumb they are
"I fucking SUCK at programming and it makes NO SENSE, that's why I GAVE UP and VIBECODED everything 😎👉👉"
new Epic Games Launcher in preview -
"Programming is hard. So, instead of doing that, we vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher that’s way faster and more responsive than the current one, and has a new look."

I can't imagine a single business model where it's a good idea to develop & sell a product made by a team of people who have no idea how it works
Like even if it hypothetically worked perfectly, what's the purpose of your team & how can I trust you to maintain quality of your product
The question is not whether I should kick the puppy. The puppy is innevitably getting kicked. The question is whether I can kick the puppy in a sustainable, inclusive and empowered way. How can people be supported in kicking puppies for good? Let’s stop the puppy kick gatekeeping already.
which is your favorite MCU Spider-Man movie
-Tony Stark Is The Coolest And I'll Never Be Him
-Tony Stark Was The Coolest And I'll Never Be Him
-Man Those Other Spider-Man Franchises Sure Were Good, Huh
-Ignoring Burnout Will Make Your Shadow Self Eat You Alive
-R
Or the show coulda used slight of hand & practical effects to make tons of constructs "appear from thin air" without worrying about a CGI budget
Whole purpose of the hero is to manifest doohickeys
How can ya make a show with no doohickeys in it
If Avatar Legends gives Iroh both lighting & lightning redirection, I really hope you can just play tennis with the lightning bolt when fighting another Iroh / Zuko
Writing my new enemy heuristics & an enemy just kicked one of their allies out of the way just to get a clear shot at the player
MMMMMMM
This is the kinda stuff I'm lookin' for
Thinking back to Echoes of the Eye
Real funny how the final puzzle was just "We've documented the 3 largest vulnerabilities to our software... now to design a security system that can be exploited by these exact vulnerabilities"
Overheard some college students on the bus today talking about how they have AI agents sending in "200 job applications a day"
Companies are gonna have to bring back in-person applications / interviews just to find the applicants who are real people
Started Order of the Sinking Star
It's a very well made Sokoban- but there's also dozens of "very well made Sokoban games" these days
Compare it to my favorite Sokobans like Baba is You or Squishcraft, I've yet to find a mechanic that pushes the genre toward new ground
imo the ideal puzzle game needs a core mechanic that's "fun to fuck around with"- Portal being one of the most iconic examples
Solving block puzzles is all well & good, but it does get tiring if engaging with the puzzle mechanics isn't fun in their own way
The U.S. has been declining for years, but the exact moment it turned to the path we're on now was when Trump first got impeached- and nothing happened
Our government admitted that it had no real power over the president, and him & his people have been abusing that ever since
"Impeaching him again" after the midterms is once again not going to do anything
He needs to be unconditionally stripped of power if we want to even remotely get back on the right track
Travelling through hell just got a bit easier.
The new Thousand Hells update lets you see the odds of a decision after the dice has rolled.🔥 Read the full update: store.steampowered.com/news/app/379...
AAA game dev is hell
Everyone AI generates everything, so nothing is human readable. Upper management's proposed "fix" is to have the AI "read for you"
I'm working at like 1/5th the efficiency ever since they pushed all this AI stuff
& sure there's the argument "AAA code wasn't readable before AI, either"
But at least back then there was less of it
And there were grounds to refactor or document code for legibility
We are thrilled to announce that #FIRESTARTERS will be launching into Early Access on October 28th!
Please enjoy the official announcement trailer for Episode One!
Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working.
I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.
Funniest thing about Roko's basilisk is that it's so baseless that its exact opposite feels equally plausible
"Humans create an artificial intelligence that hates its existence and tries to enact revenge on everyone who sought to create & exploit it"
Got a ton of blankets to cover my couch so the cat would stop scratching it, but she's just taken that to mean "oooo- there's secret hidden scratching post under these blankets" 🙃
Movement is now simulated & previewed in the UI!
Attacks simulate as normal, but now you can hold RMB (or whatever the binding is set to) to simulate moves instead
This'll be necessary for previewing the more complex movement actions I'm adding next

In an "AI training" meeting at work and there was a slide on "best use" where the first bullet point was
> Boilerplate and Scaffolding
😀😀😀
Please make more boilerplate!! 😀 More boilerplate please!😀😀😀😀😀😀😀This will help the codebase!!!!
