In 1969 WMAR-TV reporter Susan White interviewed DON RICKLES on location in Yugoslavia whilst he was shooting “Kelly’s Heroes” (working title at the time “The Warriors”). RICKLES had a reputation for not letting reporters get a word in edgeways, so Susan decided to hilariously turn the tables…

beach day with jonah. he shot 13 videos, many featuring some of the ten (yes 10) seals clamming in the lagoon formed behind the north jetty. very nice day out.

Friend in the chat who got their PhD with me suggested the following for a t-shirt, and I would 100% wear it: "You think you can hurt me? I survived Columbia's art history department."

4 nsm in a t20, with a 250km range. cute. flatbed or flatdeck.

lovely coffee wash. also a math pun.

Life update: I’ve taught myself to draw and paint over the last 3 weeks, and I will attempt to only post words I write and images I draw, paint or videograph myself on social media until the end of the year. I invite you join me. I want to read your words & see your art, not just memes & “AI”!

droll. it puts the openai/math dump and today's promise of 2x700 post-docs for two months each in context. spirit money burned before ipo time.

On No Kings Day, 7 million Americans turned out to protest the Trump administration. Here's the wonderful front-page coverage furnished by NYT. (There isn't any).

jonah shot 10 videos at north jetty today (while work was done at home) and spent above 90m elevated, costing us the mickey shirt from disney -- the last shirt. another dozen shirts came in today's mail. i'll take them to him in the morning. as a playwright, i'll take any scene with a passing dog.

beach day with jonah. observed holes eroded in base rock ledges of the siuslaw river caused by stones. sunny at north jetty we watched seven seals watch us, scads of gulls bathing noisily, sundry sea ducks, a large skein of geese. linslaw boat landing on the siuslaw river, or126 mp24.

on the drive we'd bits of philip glass's akhnaten, followed by one of philip glass's violin Concertos, so that was above pleasant listening.

ciel! it gets worse!! there were legitimate de balliol as well as the legitimate de valognes unions with issue. droll that the higher one gets in the scots baronies the more norman and french society becomes.

Randy's Donuts in Inglewood started as part of the Big Do-Nut chain. Russell Wendell -- who would go on to found Pup 'N' Taco -- created the 32-foot-tall rooftop donut in the early 1950s. In 1976, he sold the store to Robert Eskow, who named it Randy's after his son.

In a paper I'm currently working on, I'm legitimately able to cite Lewis Carroll, Richard Lewontin, and John Milnor. I feel like I'm doing something right.

The summer I nearly quit archaeology, I spent six weeks digging at Paisley Caves in eastern Oregon. I was between degrees and worn thin. The work was slow the way archaeology always is. Scrape back a few centimeters. Sift a bucket through fine mesh.
