Linear interpolation (mix, blend, interp) is one of those obvious functions you end up using everywhere. Do you know, however, why we can't simply blend between UV projections? 🙂 This and more explained in my in-depth video on Lerp www.patreon.com/techartaid/p... #UE5 #gamedev #gameart #techart

Didn't get to participate in GGJ this year (or the past several years tbh) but, given the theme was "Bubble" I thought I'd reshare my anime bubble shader I made a while back, inspired by the amazing "Bubble" anime film I said "bubble" way too much in this post, it stopped sounding like a real word

Do you know the PBR "issue" when a shader blends between 2 materials, like concrete and water? The white banding on the transition? 🧐 Well, here's a concerning photo from Warsaw. Apparently Poland runs on cheaper quality settings. We do a classic lerp instead of clear-coat compositing 🫠

Analysts heavily disappointed by market stagnation. "8.25B players worldwide again, unchanged for 3 quarters. If gaming sustained pandemic-era momentum, we'd easily see 10B+ players," says Bloomberg. "The industry must commit to growth now or face further disruptions" – warns a senior fund manager

It’s important we tell our own stories if no one else does. Here is my memory of the Unisys ICON and some ICON games, a computer that only Xennials from Ontario would have used. They were almost all destroyed and no archives or emulators exist. True lost media. postgamecontent.com/post/7717260...

We're highly social creatures, we want to belong to a community, & want to care for each other. It's far more effective for us to feel that we've let someone down, than to be punished, but we need to have a sense of responsibility first. Then we get the rewards & security from that community

The recruitment process for a technical artist is still an arduous process. It's not easy to find a person who fits your particular definition of the role. What if we...grew them internally instead? Let me reveal: the tech art hatching pod. Genetically engineered to your needs

5.5 added the console variable “tick.AllowBatchedTicks” which will automatically group together simple tick functions. It gives a bit of a boost to tick heavy projects but I'm keen to hear results from anyone that's enabled it and seen what happens! Anyone tinkered with 5.5 yet with info? #UETips

You are up to date.
