Did a review of Coast Watchers by @gmtgames.bsky.social for Table Top Battles!! I think it's quite an interesting and novel experience, but I'm not entirely sure if it is for me, although I enjoyed the games that I've had of it! #wargames www.tabletopbattles.com/hextoricals-...

tabletopbattles.comHextoricals: Coast WatchersThis week in Hextoricals, Tekopo looks at Coast Watchers, an asymmetrical hex-based game recreating the struggles of the Australian coast watchers in the Pacific in WW2.

Played some Cuius Regio by @gmtgames.bsky.social! I can see some of the inspiration it took from GCACW and similar games, but it plays very differently! Enjoyed it, but I’m hungry for a bigger campaign after our play through of the Bohemian Revolt scenario!

I remember in 2013 being a bit squeamish about A Distant Plain being released: the war in Afghanistan was still ongoing at the time and I had friends that had fought there. Considering the above, I do find it a bit ghoulish to release Defiance, a game about a very recent, on-going conflict.

Cool! I have been delighted with it so far. I actually find Cuius even more interesting than GCACW, while also smoother. It adds interaction of operational maneuver with logistics - forage and winter quartering - & diplomacy - the patchwork allegiances to either Imperialist or Protestant causes.

"Why is Crokinole a board game but pool isn't?" who cares. say pool is a board game. drink deeply of the richness that is your birthright. become an insurgent to the categories that chain you. reject canon. write fanfiction that's better than anything jj abrams could ever dream.

“Think about Chernobyl, the lives of many people in Europe were affected because they didn’t follow proper business processes” is an insane line to hear while doing corporate-mandated training

Me and my friends meeting up to play board games this weekend and ended up with 5 people attending. We were looking for a mid-to-heavy euro and there are plenty that play 5, but do they play 5 well? Most euros don’t.

Played some games recently, here's my review of them: Bottle Imp: One of my favourite trick-takers. Cat in the Box: One of my favourite trick-takers. Ghosts of Christmas: One of my favourite trick-takers. The Fellowship of the Rings: Trick Taking Game: One of my favourite trick-takers.

Going to be playing Hood Strikes North tomorrow, so look forward to a couple of pictures of it! Still in love with GCACW, it's such a good series.

Rewatched the entire LOTR extended edition and it mostly holds up, although I think Fellowship is still the best films and the latter films have some very dubious creative choices. It also doesn't help that my mind has been poisoned bycountless LOTR memes.

It kind of annoys me sometimes that it took me 20 years to come up with an idea for a world and story. It's been a fun exercise so far though.

Played Through the Ages by @czechgames.com last weekend and had someone actually resign at the start of age III: the resign rule is a weird but interesting piece of game design, and is necessary considering how brutal the game can be. #boardgames

Last Turn of our game of @multimanpublishing.bsky.social GCACW The Crater scenario of The Petersburg Campaign. I tried to assault New Market but failed, but I remained in Richmond and tried to rack up VPs by eliminating CSA manpower points. Solid Union Victory in the end. Thanks Marco!

Managed to play through most of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Trick-Taking Game and the last few chapters are incredible. The second to last one could almost be a game in itself considering how interesting it is to wrestle the puzzle it presents. Absolutely stellar game.

It’s honestly amazing how good the LOTR Two Towers Trick Taking Game is. The original was one of my favourite #boardgames but the inventiveness of the chapters in the sequel is outstanding. I almost can’t see going back to The Crew after this.

I think one of the most refreshing things I’ve read in a while was this advisory in Infernal Machine by GMT games. Many ACW games try to skirt around the subject or not mention it at all and I think this is definitely a step in the right direction. #wargames

Been playing one of the pre-printed campaigns for Mothership RPG and I'm enjoying it a lot. It delivers some of the similar beats to the Alien RPG but with a bit less crunch, which I like.
