DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

President Trump has inadvertently reduced global fossil fuel consumption because of the ongoing war with Iran. People worldwide are using significantly less oil and gas, which means less climate pollution.

American Academy of Pediatrics, reviewing evidence including 2.4M children, reports COVID vaccination lowers pediatric hospitalization and long COVID risk. Infants under 2 still carry the greatest severe disease burden. publications.aap.org/pediatrics/a...

publications.aap.orgRecommendations for COVID-19 Vaccines in Infants, Children, and Adolescents, 2026–2027: Technical ReportThis technical report accompanies the American Academy of Pediatrics policy statement recommendations for COVID-19 vaccination during the 2026–2027 respiratory virus season. The rationale is presented for recommending vaccination in all infants and children 6 through 23 months of age, children 6 months through 18 years of age who are moderately or severely immunocompromised, and children 2 through 18 years of age in certain additional risk groups, including those at high risk of severe COVID-19, residents of long-term care facilities or other congregate settings, children who have never been vaccinated against COVID-19, and children whose household contacts are at high risk for severe COVID-19. The report synthesizes currently available evidence on SARS-CoV-2 epidemiology, disease burden, COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness, vaccine safety, and vaccine cost-effectiveness in pediatric populations. Additionally, the report provides an overview of available COVID-19 vaccine products, formulations, storage and handling considerations, and coadministration with other immunizations.

There are endless studies showing this and also the financial and societal benefits of universal basic income and or housing-first policies but the U.S. never goes for any of it because it would require allowing the poor to receive benefits that the rich consider “undeserved”

“A single-payer universal health care system could cover every American, save more than 100,000 lives a year, and still cost $1 trillion less than the system it would replace, according to a new preprint study led by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health.” ysph.yale.edu/news-article...

$4 BILLION. That’s how much the Trump Administration has now spent paying companies to cancel offshore wind projects that would have lowered your electric bill. Yes, you heard that right: they are PAYING to keep more energy off the grid and your bills higher.

I hate the framing of “Ms Rachel has found a new cause—“ because no she hasn’t. Advocating for children kidnapped and locked up by ICE is not incompatible with her advocacy of children in Palestine. You just want to make her advocacy sound frivolous and fleeting. She’s being consistent.

So far the war on Iran has cost $9.4 billion. That's $1 billion per day. $41,666,667 per hour. $11,574 per second. Thousands of lives lost. People don't want this. They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

A mentee of mine has $$ to spend on training and/or writing retreats before May 2026. They would benefit from clinical trials, stats for early efficacy trials, qualitative analyses, CBPR and/or writing retreats for people from/studying minoritized groups. Thoughts? #WomenInSTEM #AcademicSky
