Im in two minds about this ME petition thing. On the one hand yeah its pretty shit that people appear to care more about getting their games than the developers who make those games. That is undoubtedly an awful thing. On the other, how much of the team that made ME great was still at the studio?

Everyone in the industry knows by now that the moment a game is on the shelves your chance at remaining employed plummets no matter how pivotal you were in the games development. Those legacy skillsets and experience rarely remain from one game to another these days.

Its all crap through and through. Crap for the original devs, crap for the new devs forced to please unpleasable audiences, crap for the laid-off devs who are just an afterthought in the minds of gamers and studio CEOs.

I love being reminded that the audience really doesn’t give a shit about the developers. Like, forget that one of the most influential studios in our industry was just executed by its publisher, just make sure the product continues on the assembly lines!

After hearing news of BioWare's closure on Wednesday, over 75,000 Mass Effect fans have signed a petition demanding that EA put another studio in charge of the franchise or license out the IP. https://bit.ly/4siIubW

it's because they literally have no visual education; so they do not know how to convey anything without the help of text tools don't make you an artist

The part that always gets me on these AI comics is that they always need to have the entire point spelled out for the viewer. No subtext, no hints, no implied message. These people just have no ability to see meaning in something unless it’s plainly written out.

It’d be super cool if all this internet security fuckery meant a bunch of mortgages (also mine) suddenly got deleted, but I’m sure anything that happens will very coincidentally align with billionaire interests again.

Now the test boxes are sanded and one coat of oil and already have the joints popping like I hoped. They all use different wood types so different results from the boiled linseed #woodworking

Des Walsh@deswalsh.bsky.social

Wirh a first pass sanding it dose seem to do what I need it to do but the real test is when it’s fully sanded and oiled but seems like it will help hide my mistakes. But got zero clue what I’ll do with these boxes I’m making.

Consumer markets are no longer about providing products people want or need, but about actively depriving people of these things or inventing new problems so they’re forced to buy them over and over again.

The videogames industry has rebranded to AI-powered live service sloppage industry.

I am extremely proud to present my new art book! Available right now online and I will have them available in person at Lightbox Expo this weekend, table 637. More than double the size of my last art books its packed to the brim with extremely cool stuff. rjpalmerstore.com/collections/...

it really does feel like they just got away with unprecedented amount of theft of expertise, and are now profiting off of it while replacing the professional opportunities for the very crafts and humans it trained on I never thought I would see the concept of expertise get so devalued

If I had a quarter for every time Jason Mamoa played a character living in Atlantis I’d have 2 quarters. It’s not a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

There’s a reason I don’t post many dev videos anymore and it’s not because I stopped devving. We live in a world where a bunch of entitled fuckwads think all your work and ideas are theirs to take, and now they’ve been given the tools to do exactly that. My dev ideas stay with me now.

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

From the man who doesn’t believe in Lidar and promises to eventually deliver fsd that can see a truck, comes the car that cant detect a lack of solid ground in its immediate path and either steer away or apply brakes. A car so rubbish it had jets installed to compensate.

shauna@goldengateblond.bsky.social

is one of those situations “DAMMIT i’m in a michael bay movie again”

Presumably the car has brakes, but they can only be applied after the death defying hop over the gap in a bridge with 10 feet height difference at each side.

I recon it’s a very safe bet this is as real as the cybertruck that can also be a boat. Or the manned Mars missions. Or Hyperloop. Or proper fsd. Or that robot I forget the name of. Or Musks humanity.

If I’m wrong and this is actually a real flying car that can really fly for an extended time and drive like a real legal car than I’ll kick myself in the nuts. I can’t bend in any way to accomplish that feat, this is how confident I am in Musks pants being wildly on fire.
