I’ve another story out! Into The Darkness They Go, The Wise and the Lovely was inspired by the @britishfantasysociety’s first writing retreat at @gladstoneslibrary earlier this year, Portraits of Patriarchs is out now! #ShortStory #ShortFiction #Patriarchs #GenreFiction #Horror #Fiction #BookRec

It’s almost here!!!

This weekend I loved my trip to Fantasycon this year - lots to see, read and think about but also how good the SF&F community can be

At Eternity's Gates, the FINAL book in my BFS nominated epic fantasy series, is out today! So... The whole series is on sale. 4 books, 700k words for the price of a Dublin pint or large coffee. And, it's done 😌

Congratulations once again to all the winners and nominees for the British Fantasy Awards, but especially to our own Jenni Coutts, Shona Kinsella, Neil Williamson, and EM Faulds, who won Best Collection! @jennicoutts.bsky.social @shonak.bsky.social @neilwilliamson.bsky.social @bethkesh.bsky.social

I’ll be bringing some signed copies of my BFA nommed (have I mentioned this before?!) collection with me to FCon. They’ll be available at the BFS/Fantasycon table, or find Yates; he’ll be happy to hook you up 😘 #Anthology @britishfantasysociety #FantasyCon2023 #Books #Reading #ShortStories

Forgot this is also coming out next year: a mini-collection picked up by the wonderful and only slightly dead folks at @psychopomp.bsky.social ! 💀 (I'm sorry I'm already forgetting things that haven't happened yet, what is going on)

Fantasycon 2023 kicks off a week today at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Birmingham. Join us for three days of genre fun and games, with workshops, panels, readings and more from your GSFWC pals.   Here's where you can find us: (1/8)

All being well, I'll be at Fantasycon, where I'll be reading *brand new fiction*. Plus I'll be talking about Fantasy & Gaming (of all kinds), post-COVID genre fandom and ten years on from Sad Puppies, amongst other things. Check out my schedule at the link below. www.ruthbooth.com/2023/09/fant...

Our next issue of Shoreline of Infinity Science Fiction Magazine, the Climate Change Special, is open for pre-order. Please pass on to as many eyes as you can. shorelineofinfinity.com/product/shor...

Edited by our own @shonak.bsky.social and featuring a new tale from our @thdray.bsky.social, check out the new anthology 'Portraits of Patriarchs' at the link below!

At Fantasycon, @thdray.bsky.social and I will be running our "Reading aloud for performance" workshop again at 6pm on the Friday. Helpful tips for reading your work with impact, this workshop is good practice for old hands as well as new, and lets you have a go, too!

😊 My story “Into the Darkness They Go, The Wise & The Lovely” kicks off the BFS antho, Portraits of Patriarchs, ed @shona.kinsella. Featuring work by attendees of BFS’s first writing retreat at Gladstone’s, incl Eliza Chan, Jen Williams, David Green & T H Dray; the launch is at 12pm on Sun at FCon.

I have finally joined the bluer skies here! I’m a British Fantasy Award winning artist, writer and GP based in Glasgow, Scotland. I’d love to meet new people on here!

Last year I was nominated for 3 British Fantasy Awards. I can’t believe it! It blew my mind to be alongside writers I admire. My work is changing, growing, but you can still buy my debut collection & the s/story (in the also nom’d & excellent antho Dreamland by #BlackShuckBooks) #FoxSpiritBooks

Many congratulations to our own @neilwilliamson.bsky.social on the acquisition of his novella Charlie Says by Black Shuck Books!

Quick post for new frens: I wear many hats (sometimes literally) and you can find my main shenanigans in these places: www.ebbband.com www.krowofficial.com www.thelodgeartscollective.co.uk/SteampunkIndia And do visit @eafoundation.bsky.social: I narrate for several of their SFF branches!

Finally got round to buying the Best of British Science Fiction 2021 so I could read Henrietta by @thdray.bsky.social . Well worth the price of entry! Absolutely loved it! Now I have a bunch of other short stories to read too!

This week we’re joined by the brilliant Graeme Macrae Burnet to tell us about being published later in life, the impact of being Booker-nominated (twice!), writing metafiction - plus we find out what his favourite Will Ferrell movie is! Listen now: https://linktr.ee/ukpageone #writingcommunity

I should probably introduce myself and my writing. Here are links to where you can read some of my stories online for free: https://heathervalentinewriting.com/short-stories/ These three stories are all queer gothic stories with fantastical elements, but I do also write other things.

I lowkey promised myself I wouldn't spam folks on here, but THE QUEEN OF THE HIGH FIELDS just got shortlisted for the British Fantasy Awards. Thank you so much to Luna Press and to everyone who voted and read this mad, sad story about two lost girls on the Welsh coast. Diolch yn fawr x
