Some Lula supporters apparently shouted his name out their window when it was announced he won and a cop pointed his gun at him and they took what is possibly the greatest image of a cop ever taken, like genuinely this would go hard as a cover for a Rage album its so poetic.

My mental model for who is the *most*, the very most, likely to go all-in on AI is someone who *used* to be very creative and capable, sometimes 20 or 30 or 40 years ago, but since has moved upward into a position where they pretty much just tell other creative people what to do

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind. Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.

The die-hard fans of any medium are the worst people to listen to when it comes to fixing a franchise. They are invariably obsessed with tiny continuity details that nobody else cares about and they want comfort food reboots that's just the same thing with different packaging. Fuck the fans.

This post is unavailable.

The real joy of any franchise is something new and satisfying that nobody saw coming. That's what TOS delivered; it's what TNG delivered, once it got its feet under it; it's even what DS9 delivered. The next big Star Trek revision will be something that nobody saw coming. And it'll be great.

“Listen, I know taxing the ultra-rich would fix almost everything, but what you’re not understanding is that it ruins the fantasy of my inevitable rise to billionaire status.”

If I had seen one-third the number of articles like this about "Why cutting your gay/trans child off isn't the answer," I might take it seriously. As it is, it's a quietly conservative movement forgetting the damage they casually did when their kids didn't live up to their expectations

This is a quietly metastasizing moral panic

Manchin's the same douchebag who stopped Biden from enacting wide-scale electoral reform, setting us up for extreme danger of interference going into the 2026 elections. The man can drown in a bag of rancid semen as far as I'm concerned

Phil PlAIt@philplait.bsky.social

It's important to note that Manchin can go screw himself. Dems can multitask.

My friends are playing Dressmaker I'm playing Hellraiser What I want to play is Hellmaker, where I'm an up-and-coming Cenobite who needs to flay mortals in artistic ways to impress the coterie

Y’all, I hate to rain on the dead bot parade, but the Yandex data center destruction doesn’t seem to have significantly impacted social media bots. I made temporal graphs of X posts about AfD around the time of the attack and there’s no sign of a sudden dip or residual impact on that conversation.

To this day I think America's biggest problem was Nixon. We handled him mostly through the rule of law, and the law WORKED America learned the lesson that the law works Conservatives learned the lesson that they need to subvert the law

Dennis Detwiller@drgonzo123.bsky.social

"There was no easy solution to the Trump problem!" Yes, there was, it was called enforcing the rule of law. You had your shot, and you decided to play pretend, and now the entire world is paying for it.

Genuinely, I pity the people who do not realize that they've been brought low. I wish their past selves could see what they've become, and talk some sense into them. "How much would it take," they would ask, "for you to hang out with Nazis who sell kiddie porn?" And they'd be shocked at the answer.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

What I like about Bluesky is that Ukraine's bombing of the Russian Bots has no effect on traffic here, we all blocked those bots long ago

Turns out the friction of having to learn photoshop was a crucial firewall protecting society from the terrible taste of small business owners

When I first heard about AI being used for menus and advertisements, my concern was largely that it would be used to idealize the food and make it look better than it actually was. At no point did I imagine that restaurants would willingly put out horrific looking images of their food on purpose

In the Mario Teaches Typing games, Mario never criticizes the player for underperforming and tries to be understanding and supportive. According to Charles Martinet, that was his initiative, as he felt being negative would go against the core principles of Mario's character.

I don’t care where you started out on the political spectrum If your kid comes out as trans & you don’t become a rainbow-clad, parade-cheering ally & rock-solid supportive girl/boy/enby dad/mom? You were never a parent at all You were a doll collector furious they didn’t stay in their packaging.

I love the trend where people post old photos showing they were an unlikely match for their spouse in high school but unfortunately I cannot participate because my husband and I look like we would have formed an Evanescence cover band if we’d met in 2009

# BANNED AND RESTRICTED ANNOUNCEMENT / 09/30/2026 One-card spread: The Ten of Swords is *banned* The Nine of cups is *banned* Another season of pro tarot league is almost upon us. While most formats are thriving, in the fast and degenerate world of one-card we're seeing concerning metagame data,

Welp, I've listened to the new Big Hit Song What Has Been On The Charts For A Record Amount Of Time And I forgot that I listened to it until someone else mentioned it today, so that should tell you how much I enjoyed it And that's okay that I don't connect with it!

If someone is new to a kink or poly scene and you're an experienced hand, have you considered just BEING A FRIEND? You don't have to sex them up right away; you can be a decent person who supports them without taking advantage of their naivete.

The best we can hope for here is that conservative voters treat Ramaswamy the same way they treated Hillary and Kamala; they won't be *actively* racist, they'll just find nitpicky reasons to not like Ramaswamy that are *deniably* racist

Today, Marist's midnight poll drop is from Ohio: Sherrod Brown leads Sen. Husted 51% to 43%. Amy Acton leads Vivek Ramaswamy 50% to 44%. A key stat: 50% *strongly disapprove* of Trump, in Ohio. maristpoll.marist.edu/polls/midter...
