I think I just fundamentally believe people are what they do. There is no inherently good or bad person, born or made. Our actions do not leave moral stains on our souls. We must have the agency to stop causing harm. To repair what we can. And to be better people. And I want that for everyone.

the light world is 100% got to be a constructed world of some kind at this point. there is so much pointing directly to that conclusion both through the game's imagery and thematics it feels actively regressive to engage with the game's text while also not to acknowledging that.

deltarune chapter 5 spoilers i'm now more confident in my crack theory that deltarune's world is fake -- it's a simulation housed within the broken machine in sans's lab. sans didn't come from deltarune, he's controlling a character in it, like the chapter 3 boards.

the game has already established Hometime's isolation from the outside world. the internet is offline, the TV only plays reruns, letters have stopped coming in and... there is no exit or entrance from the town. just walls of trees, tape and lakes. because there actually isn't an outside world

i think the weird route scene really solidify this reading, honestly. i don't think noelle wants to cross the lake because she's suicidal. she wants to be free. she wants to leave town. the setting of the story itself. and so she is trying to push past the boundary. and it seems she succeeded.

deltarune's basic premise is one built atop layers of reality. on it's own, this serves to forward DR's meta narrative on agency within linear narratives. the roles of players, player characters and npcs and the ways they effect one another.

but if this world structure is indeed true. the game's discussion of the light/dark world dynamic and the artifice of it would need to extent to the player too. that perspective on the subject can't just be ignored. they are part of this story too, directly controlling it's main character.

how fandom misogyny should be talked about: "we need to unpack eons of culture bullying young girls and any interests perceived as feminine" what most discussions about fandom misogyny sounds like to the uninitiated observer: "why are people objectifying men instead of sexy women"

Some older OOT art. I always did love the 64-era illustration's use of deep shadows. Should make some new Zelda art soon, I'm feeling in the mood.

I think people are often afraid to call "all ages" media "childrens media" because it sounds dismissive and makes their work sound cheaper, but I yearn for the world where that's a compliment because think children deserve good things, they deserve the world really

i'm writing something about saros and i know that it's an innocent mistake that isn't meant to yuck anyone's yum, but i do wish for a game that is as interpretative as it is that some of the folks attached to that project would not weigh in on theories in too concrete of terms.

Replying to @shepardcdr.bsky.social

not trying to shame anyone and i know once a story is out it becomes the audience's to interpret as they see fit, but being like "we weren't directed this way, but if you want to view it as such go ahead" does sour some of the discussions because now there's "evidence" of one interpretation

hi. i helped with this. or if help is too generous. i sat in a voice call, played the game and then spent the the next 5 hours ruthlessly tearing it to sheds. a normal routine of mine. all that to say it's pretty damn good and you should play it. a very promising project.

Some of the replies to this really are showing how privileged and ignorant a lot of americans are, wow I'm glad Toby Fox is willing to look into other approaches, because wanting accesibility is not being entitled, it's been 10 years, and it's not like the japanese localization is perfect either

Small #UNDERTALE comic on how telling #sans about his past ( #DELTARUNE ) would go down like in my opinion. #artistonbluesky #myart (1/2)

One thing I hate about YouTube is that so many "Character Analysis" on there aren't actual *analysis*, they're just glorified character summaries Usually used to compare fandom consensus with canon. There are very few video essayists who make character analysis that go beyond surface level readings.

fandoms themself do not suck, it is what all social media platforms, (the place where you engage fandom) are designed to do people that suck. fandom's biggest crime is blaming that on each other and not the systems that made them that way to begin with.

Morgana! I always felt bad for him in Persona 5. He was fighting so many emotions. He wanted to belong, he wanted his memories back, and a purpose. There is so much to him. 🥹 He’s a cool not-cat. I love his witty comments too. 🥹

Is it bad to think people who crave drama to find social media interesting are way more boring than people who are just... chill? Like it seems like you don't have any way of keeping yourself engaged in the stuff you like unlees you're deployed on the battlefield or something. 😭

plagiarism is copying something and saying "this is my own completely original idea and i own all of the rights to it" while sweeping the original under a suspiciously thick rug inspiration is when i do it.

I think I cracked the code. Pluie is french for rain. Pluey must be the name of the lil rain dance guy. Implimenting them means they might be the overworld save point. Mystery solved.

tobyfox@tobyfox.undertale.com

Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet) In addition to fixing Ch3/Ch4, we also still need to implement Pluey

Okay, I'll be real, the Pluey shit isn't funny anymore, the joke has been thoroughly run into the ground. Which is impressive considering it's only happened like a day ago, but that's not surprising, the UT/DR community has turned not being funny into a science.
