Some Lula supporters apparently shouted his name out their window when it was announced he won and a cop pointed his gun at him and they took what is possibly the greatest image of a cop ever taken, like genuinely this would go hard as a cover for a Rage album its so poetic.

NEW: Remedy's latest game, Control Resonant, is filled with art galleries. The galleries are filled with real art When I began talking to Remedy about it, I was delighted to discover who the artists are: many are the game developers' parents My story... www.gamefile.news/p/control-re...

gamefile.newsWho made the art inside Control Resonant? When the developers of Control Resonant needed to fill their video game version of New York City with art galleries, they tapped the talents of people they knew particularly well

I love shit like this because it gives me hope that maybe someday something I do will end up in physical retail, and I think that’d be neat. If these knuckleheads can make it happen, I can too!

Saw this on the shelf at Target and it’s like a portal to an utterly unknowable parallel world. As if i was peering into the dimension from Stalker

yeah no. big kottke fan, but, no. “Realistically, let’s say the internet gets infested with AI worms and we need to turn it off and on again, could we do it?” what does that mean? what is “the internet”? like, could AWS and Vercel and DO invalidate a bunch of virtual servers? yeah, 100%.

kottke.org@kottke.org

Matt Webb is bunkering down, bracing for more LLM-driven security exploits. “Realistically, let’s say the internet gets infested with AI worms and we need to turn it off and on again, could we do it?” I had not heard of the air-gapped LLM communication 😳 [interconnected.org]

the internet is a lot of different connected things, so no we can’t do a full “black start” but we also don’t need to because it’s very improbable that there’d ever be a need to. like 70% of sites were vulnerable to php2shell just last week, and we just patched and carried on. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

that said, there’s a reason we’ve been complaining about the modern FE stack for a decade. node/npm sucks, regardless of ai, so if this is your excuse to go static then hell yeah. (also, the Vercel CEO is a Trump bootlicker so avoid them and Next.js regardless.)

Our house also watched The Cycle [free @ Shudder] last night and it was pretty great! Writing/story was the worst part, but wasn’t too bad. Leaning into the practical effects was, as always, the right choice. Felt like it could have made anytime in the last or next 40 years.

Okay I’m watching The Cycle due to the many recommendations. I assume you all meant the recent one with my wife Deborah Ann Woll

bitch get the fuck outta my town with your stupid no-history-knowing desiccated racism ass

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

If Americans need our little southern recipe for how to defeat fascism it goes like this: - Put people in the streets by standing for popular demands (wages, healthcare, public services) - Do not engage with fascists online - Do not succumb to doomsayers or media-driven narratives - Be happy

Ben Collins@bencollins.bsky.social

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

If humans manage to pull off an antifascist quadfecta in Serbia, Brazil, Israel, and the US over the next week-ish, might be the thing that stops me from noping out of civilization and moving to a cabin in the woods.

Bruno Dies@brunodias.dev

Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.

I’m glad that Lula won for a lot of reasons but selfishly it kinda confirms that “swagless son of a fascist freak” will probably be a losing ticket when Trump dies and if the boys make a go for it.

A Lula win is great news for those of us who enjoy breathing air, and will probably save several species from extinction

Replying to @taniel.bsky.social

With 83% of the vote counted nationwide, Lula has stretched his lead to 2.8 million votes. That's a lead of 51.4% to 48.6%. That puts him on track for a victory that could be larger than his 1.8% win four years ago, which would be an immense comeback. He's even up in Minas Gervais now, by 0.6%.

David Gura@davidgura.bsky.social

cool, cool

I'm so pissed about this. You don't go on national TV almost a week before the election, with early voting already happening, and say this kind of shit unless you're willfully trying to harm El-Sayed. There's no other reason. "on the team" motherfucker in this election, he IS the team

Yeah fuck this. The entire premise is predicated on the notion that El-Sayed's policies are somehow disproportionately favoring non-Black voters, or that he's ignoring their concerns. Neither of those is true. MfA would specifically Black people MORE; ~11% un/underinsured vs. ~6% white.

pundits are basically bored by the idea that these democratic candidates are not meaningfully behind with black voters and so are trying to conjure a controversy into existence

Ariel@ari-el222.bsky.social

he’s also given multiple speeches on this and has really been trying with outreach both during the primary and now. I think the media just really wants Black voters to abandon Dems. Talarico had more time to show this narrative was completely bunk but it really mirrors that coverage too

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

I'm sorry, but it's 2026. We've seen enough, lived through enough. If you think Rogers, or ANY REPUBLICAN, is going to be better for your particular demographic than El-Sayed, no matter what that demographic is*, you're out of your fucking mind. *unless your demo is "rapists" and/or "billionaires".

Elon Musk doesn’t just post about race. Given how frequently he does, you could say he’s actually the race’est. Hugely race’est.

I know the PHP shit is getting all the attention today, but one fun side-effect of the eMudhra CA compromise is that older versions of Node are permanently vulnerable to MITM attack if not upgraded. Including Node embedded in Electron apps. It’s going to be a loooooong tail.
