Isn't there some amendment... that is about due process or something... and about searches... maybe some case law... #fourteenth #fourth

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

BASH: He's a US citizen MARKWAYNE MULLIN: He wasn't arrested BASH: He was arrested. He was later released, but he was arrested. Do Americans need to carry around proof of citizenship now? MULLIN: If you're a citizen, you have no reason to fear

If the D's win you get competent governing and your rights protected but probably no checks... If R's win... you could get $13,000... maybe... probably not... cause the house always wins... but hey... just hedge on Kalshi... cause you're a thinker.

Since becoming president again, Trump has promised: -$5000 stimulus checks via "DOGE dividend" -$2000 stimulus checks via "tariff dividend" -$1000+ checks via "savings" from expiring ACA subsidies -$5000 "dividend" if Rs win midterms No checks have been issued www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-magi...

I have been saying it months... it's not about data centers... It's the richest and most powerful people, who already control much of your life, telling you they need data centers and you need ai, so they can get even more rich & powerful... while musing "what will you do when AI takes your job"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

"In the face of what seems like an impossibly powerful industry w/almost infinite wealth & political power at its disposal, fighting a data center coming to your town is a way for people to reassert their efficacy, to not just say 'No' but actually do something about it." — @paulwaldman.bsky.social

They ask for Trillions of $... post puff pieces pretending they care about safety and want UBI... walk into neighborhoods people grew up in and offer to buy everyone's or no one's house at double, pitting neighbors against each other.... Then wonder why people hate them.

Fox host:"....asking for a friend."

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

FOX: How did Nancy Grace get her name attached to this mission? ISAACMAN: Those who came before me probably solicited a lot of great ideas for the name that should be attached to America's next great exploration asset F: So it's not *that* Nancy Grace? I: It's one of NASA's great contributors

Hear me out. What if instead of selling food below cost to all comers at taxpayer expense, then using more taxpayer dollars to subsidize private companies that can't compete, we had a program targeting nutritional assistance just to the people who needed it, as a sort of supplement?

Record collection has reached ... CCLXI, 101101001 or (most importantly) 19²... cause I can show it as a nicely square image. Behold... my all B9 (in Base 32) albums. #vinyl

I know it is fun to dunk on Altman... but have you tried talking to children? now imagine having to do that every day. Not going to judge a parent who wants to turn on the radio.

How self consumed does one have to believe to think this: “...how much time did the network spend … on my responses every week...? Did they do even a minute on Tony Fauci? Nah, I bet they didn’t.” Washington insiders are more self aware then this bro...

TUBERVILLE: Fauci killed 9 million people FOX BUSINESS: Yeah. We can't prove that, right? TUBERVILLE: We can

Post like this are hilarious... because overwhelmingly... no people haven't been "scrimping to offset energy use and protect clean water" for decades. Water and energy have been so cheap more people use them without thinking twice.

Last night, to win an r/AlignmentChartFills "argument" on PGs in the NBA... I copy & pasted nearly 100 pages of stats from Pro-Basketball References, then quit when I realized I just recreated the "per 36 min" stat AND was responding to a comment that was 3 weeks old... #ADHD

The biggest threat to productivity is Ghost Calendar Invites... Sure the creator canceled the meeting... but the invite had already gone through mitosis and remains on 5 other calendars.

Awesome... and they are planning 12 more by 2029. Reliable water sources for islands are critical.

By generating #renewableelectricity and fresh water from the same installation, these projects address #clean-energy and water scarcity Although still emerging, integrated solar-desalination systems could become especially valuable for islands, coastal communities, drought-prone regions #ActOnClimate

Dear whoever does the "Earthquake" alert on my phone... ...I am fucking driving, you know that, STOP making the phone freakout non-stop. Distracted Driving is more dangerous then a 2.0 earthquake 100 miles away.

Kind of a big frustration of mine... that is happening all around the Reflecting Pool Discussion... Seeing Post like: "Salient Point backed by thoughtful commentary... ...adding an unnecessary and wrong accusation for traction."

Since I did do my PhD in cyanobacteria growth and treatment optimization modeling AND work in the water treatment industry, I’m gonna share my theory as to what’s happening here and how to fix it. People are focusing on the painted bottom of the pool increasing residual heat, and while that 1/19

RIP Mark Rothko. You would have loved how the hydrogen peroxide bleach is only turning the Reflecting Pool blue around the perimeter

Over/under on Steyer spending more on candidates that share his views (like Becerra) than he did on himself?

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

Major news in the California governor race: – Gavin Newsom officially endorses Xavier Becerra – Tom Steyer concedes and throws his support behind Becerra: "It would be a travesty for Steve Hilton to win the governorship, and Californians must unite behind Xavier Becerra to ensure he does not."

Who left Texas last time...

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ted Cruz on Talarico: "If you were making a list of 1,000 adjectives to describe this guy, 'masculine' would not be one of them. I mean, if a stiff breeze came by it would blow him over like a feather."

Does this mean he will not certify November's election results from California?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RAJU: But what evidence is there to prove the California election is rigged? MIKE JOHNSON: Look, some of these efforts are so diabolical and so far upstream it's impossible to prove. But I think everybody knows instinctively that something is wrong here.

"This Data Center is is using Eleventy Billion centiliters of water!" These are crazy takes, because 99% of the discussions are missing... One: Talk in acre-feet. Measuring a dick in nanometers doesn't make it bigger. Second: Water cost & rights. Those are a thing... water resources are owned.

Oliver Darcy got the audio of the heated 60 Minutes meeting where Scott Pelley dressed Nick Bilton down! "You know what was rude? Black Thursday. That was the absolute definition of rudeness. Telling Tanya Simon she had to be out of here at five o'clock." www.status.news/p/scott-pell...

It is crazy to me how residential solar is discussed in California... IMO it is clearly an astroturf campaign that has wedged itself into the populist left. It literally works to subsidize homeowners (the wealthiest) in California at the expense of renters. California needs battery storage.

Really? Plans? Does that imply something more than just not have CBP there? I seriously doubt they are planning for the logistics of blocking 5 of the 6 busiest international airports arriving flights. (JFK, LAC, SFO, EWR, & ORD are all sanctuary cities)

Brian Tyler Cohen@briantylercohen.bsky.social

Trump’s DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin just announced that they are “drawing up plans” to block all international flights into blue cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. thehill.com/homenews/adm...

I don't... I don't understand... how is he such a spinless coward?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Lindsey Graham: "If you get nothing else out of this interview, Donald Trump endorsed Lindsey Graham. Let's stand with President Trump. I'm honored to have his endorsement. I think he's the most consequential president of my lifetime, and he's cleaning up Biden's messes."

And what is the deal with cigarettes being behind the counter... instead of in vending machines next to candy?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ferguson: "Just this weekend, I was shopping at a big home improvement store to buy a drill. I had to hit a call button and wait 15 minutes for an associate to unlock a padlock. Social trust has evaporated and people are taking advantage of it, and the same is true of our federal benefit programs."

Some notes now that I’ve seen the transcript of the hearing, thanks to @lizdye.bsky.social . First: the government dismissed the felony count in an effort to convince the judge not to make them produce full transcripts, knowing they showed serious misconduct.

There are two ways you can balance a budget. 1. Cut Cost 2. Increase Revenue In this case Ny State gave $4 B to the City. So... No specific policy from the Mayor... just Government working together.

When we took office, NYC had a $12B deficit. Today it’s zero. And we didn’t close that gap on the backs of working people. We closed it while funding parks, libraries, safer streets, & public housing. Call it Pothole Politics or Democratic Socialism: We are government that delivers for the people.
