What happens when we look closer at textbook findings about early infancy? Well, lots of questions arise. (Which imo makes science fun)
New paper 🍼📄 ManyBabies 3 is out (open access, registered report in Developmental Science). 30 labs, 33 languages, 839 infants set out to replicate a textbook finding: 7-month-olds learn abstract rules from speech (@garymarcus.bsky.social et al., 1999). We didn’t find it. 🧵

EU friends: pls be aware that you cannot share certain types of data on Zenodo because Zenodo does actually not comply with GDPR. @lakens.bsky.social 's blog has a great summary. It's a pretty serious reason to avoid Zenodo for researchers who work with data, if I understand the issue correctly.
Curious about Zenodo as an OSF Project alternative? Here's a short video to get you started: File Uploads, Communities, and generating links for Anonymous Peer Review. youtu.be/jW84PxuJTMw

Two years after the Prime Minister said he'd ban teens from social media, 80% of them are still on there. No policy is going to be perfect from the get go, but it's worth considering the time and effort put towards this instead of other reforms.

There is more, but I'll stop because I need to sleep. My personal take: biology is complicated, men and women have more in common than not, and anyone looking for a simple story about sex and the brain is probably going to be frustrated by the reality. I'll end with two quotes from the study: 17/n
