If any of my teachers ever came out and (rightfully) said things like this to and about me, I would never show my face in public again and probably die of fucking shame.

You have to really, really, really fucking suck for your 8th grade teacher to come out and shame you like this. Damn.

Despite the outcome, that was another questionable play call. I have zero problem throwing the ball there, but to go empty with Warren on the sideline is *insane.* Rodgers was almost sacked out of FG range before escaping.

There’s no way you can call that a catch. If it dragged then grass/turf would’ve come up. There’s nothing there.

I honestly don’t understand the Steelers’ defensive strategy. Play zone defense and leave receivers wide open? Plus *never* covering backs coming out of the backfield?

I would’ve been right if they had just let the play clock go down and kick on the first play of the 4th. The spirit of my post was 100% right.

Like all Steelers games, this will be exceedingly frustrating. They should run it 50 times. Warren and Dowdle should each get over 100 yards. Instead, they’ll probably throw it more than they run it (per usual) and struggle offensively and soon it’ll be 13-10 in the 4th.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

The Pirates went 20 seasons without a winning record, but the Rays were still a bigger laughingstock during that time. The Tampa Bay Rays have now won three pennants in 18 years. The Pirates have won three in 66 years.

I need to know why I, living in New Mexico, am blacked out from NHL games in Dallas, Colorado *and* Utah. Am I supposed to drive and go to these games? The “in-market area” for the Dallas games doesn’t even include any of New Mexico. The NHL is so dumb.

That “drive” is fireable and benchable. They took only *14* seconds off the clock *and* Tampa still has a timeout!

Rodgers actively costs the Steelers points. He could’ve scrambled for a few yards so they maybe could’ve attempted a FG (or gone for it), but a throwaway leads to a punt.

Seems like it was probably a good thing I didn’t spend nine hours driving to Vegas today and then $500 to see the Pens lose to Vegas and start overnight and drive nine hours back tomorrow. On the other hand, will I ever get to see Malkin play in person again? Ah well.

MLB is gonna institute a lockout before the World Series. Milwaukee and Cleveland/Tampa? They’d rather burn.

I’m going to be in Milwaukee for a conference the rest of this week. I just saw that Weezer is playing with The Shins in Milwaukee Wednesday night. I just bought a ticket to see Weezer and The Shins Wednesday night.

They should honestly just mercy rule this game and end it. Flyers are going to start running people. As evidenced by their huge overreaction to a clean hit.

And an equally bad hands to the face call. If that’s a penalty then every lineman on both sides is guilty of it on every play.

Fuck DraftKings and FanDuel and Kalshi and Polymarket and every single betting/“prediction market” apps. They’re fucking evil. DO. NOT. GAMBLE. You are not good at it. You will not be good at it. Don’t do it.

ProPublica@propublica.org

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

It’s pretty much this simple. PUNISH THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE. End the corruption. No more “reaching across the aisle” because every single one of them has shown the kind of person they are.

Rodger Sherman@rodger.bsky.social

—run up the score —stop the "do evil + make Americans' lives worse" agenda Day 1 —punish the people responsible for their crimes (we tried letting them get away with it, doesn't work) —set up infrastructure to make sure This never happens again —enact "do good + make Americans' lives better" agenda

After the first few obvious ones, deciding on the last couple was tough. Excluding Chernobyl (excellently done despite its historical inaccuracies) was particularly tough.

This is a Watergate-level scandal (or bigger). I wonder if it even sticks in the news cycle through to the weekend.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.

I wonder what Colin Moran is up to these days … 🤦🏻‍♂️

Gerrit Cole now has the most wins by a pitcher drafted first overall Most wins by a pitcher drafted No. 1 overall: Gerrit Cole: 162 (2011 Draft) Mike Moore: 161 (1981) David Price: 157 (2007)

Nothing has changed. The offense stinks and looks unprepared. The defense has been fine. They luck into playing a third-string QB and the opposing kicker misses multiple field goals. TJ Watt takes over the game. This could be any year since 2019.

Playing a team with a third string QB and a 45-year-old kicker that has missed a pair of field goals? Most teams would be rolling. The Steelers, meanwhile, are clinging to a six-point lead. Maybe it wasn’t Tomlin’s fault 😆

Just catching up on college football for the evening … that Michigan situation needs to be fixed. The NCAA needs to come in and be like “Nah, they were wrong. WMU wins.” I get for a million reasons why they never would, but they need to. Any voter needs to consider it that way.
