Reading Noah Adams’ book in the early ‘90s about his work made working at NPR station an ambition of mine

David Folkenflik@davidfolkenflik.bsky.social

Noah radiated decency; his keen insight informed what became NPR's original sound; his interest in places far from power enriched our understanding of the nation and its people. Lovely tribute from @scottdetrow.bsky.social www.npr.org/2026/10/18/n...

My dad was a highly-skilled union bricklayer. He semi-retired at 65 and fully retired at 70. He lived to almost 95. But I never remember him suggesting I try to get a construction job out of high school instead of going to college and he was proud of who I became.

I’m really excited to be the new GM of @globeradio.org. I’ll be working with a great team that has made Goshen College a prime destination for students to learn the art of broadcasting in a community that has fully integrated Globe Media into its mission.

My last day at WVPE is May 29. I have accepted a position with Goshen College as general manager of @globeradio.org and will teach a couple of classes. Jason Samuel will still be there, but is building the college’s disc golf program. Thanks, @sidshroyer.bsky.social for these kind words about me.

In March 2021, Sid Shroyer reflected on WVPE’s COVID-19 response. He pays tribute to program director Tony Krabill, who retires from WVPE at the end of the month. Listen to Michiana Chronicles every Friday at 7:45 AM and 12:30 PM on 88.1 WVPE.

To my own chagrin, I often allow the second wolf to be the alpha

Danielle Kurtzleben@titonka.bsky.social

Inside you are two wolves. One says “I want everyone to read my story.” The other says “oh God everyone is reading my story” and also that wolf is vomiting.

There's a line of code in Microsoft Windows that says, more or less, "if major news breaks and a reporter needs to go live please restart their computer for 'updates' immediately."

I remember this vividly. I was 13. I’m curious: Has there been any acknowledgment from the ABC Sports crew on tonight’s Monday Night Football broadcast of the historic role Howard Cosell played in informing the world of John Lennon’s death on this date 45 years ago?

45 years ago today, one of the many days when the music really, truly died. Howard Cosell announces the death of former Beatle John Lennon on "Monday Night Football." www.youtube.com/watch?v=n73G...

Too many people’s inside thoughts are outside thoughts nowadays… Shared to mass audiences of people that never should know about those peoples’ inside OR outside thoughts… All flattened into the worst algorithmic mobs that reward the most unhinged and emotional posting.
