I have little desire to ever organize another tech event but if I did... it would be the one where "succeeding as a creative weirdo in tech" was basically the overarching theme.

Cat Hicks@grimalkina.bsky.social

Tech events I get invited to speak at: "succeeding as a woman in tech" Tech events I'd like to get invited to speak at: "succeeding as a creative weirdo in tech who keeps having strange side projects run away on them and wants to scale impact while staying weird"

One of the things I'm going to miss most from @deno.land is their Jupyter kernel. I use it all the time for exploring TypeScript libraries, automations, etc. I found myself wondering what Claude would do if I pointed it at this problem. The result is cdp-kernel: github.com/tlockney/cdp....

I get and even share some of the concerns I'm seeing expressed. And yet, I think this is a great outcome for what remains of the Deno team and am very excited about what's to come as celld and workerd collide.

We're making the Cloudflare developer platform the best place to run JavaScript, anywhere. Big step toward that today: the Deno team is joining us to build what’s next. https://cfl.re/4rXMBKy

Love seeing more of these classic, important patterns getting codified like this as durable execution and workflows become a more widespread primitive of platform architectures.

Saga rollbacks let you put that answer directly beside each step. If you are building multi-step applications with Workflows, try saga rollbacks and tell us what compensation patterns you want next. https://cfl.re/4uQNmEV

Been saying this for a couple years now to anyone who would listen. Unfortunately that audience was pretty small. lol

I am now leaning "rust and typescript" are the only 2 programming languages in 10 years

sharing this again. let's celebrate some victories, people. Botswana is at the forefront of Africa overcoming a colonial legacy, moving to acceptance of people in all their glory. trans rights are enshrined in the constitution, both main political parties are onside. fuck yeah botswana!

Botswana’s decision to completely legalize homosexuality is being hailed as a powerful milestone for human rights across Africa. #LGBTQ+ #transnews #transgender #TransRights #EqualityForAll #LGBTQRights

Had my first MRI today. Everyone warned me about the noise. All I could think about was how much I wanted to record it. Guess that probably helped. Well, that, the valium, and keeping my eyes closed tight the whole time (I sometimes get hit by intense claustrophobia).

Don't ever take this site or anything it publishes seriously. It is actively looking to hire people who hate Starfleet Academy to write about it. As of 8 pm on 10.3.2026, this is live on LinkedIn. Ask me again why I think the anti-SFA sentiment is manufactured. #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy

Reminder that Paramount Skydance needs approval from Trump's minions to buy Warner Bros. Yesterday, its subsidiary CBS banned Stephen Colbert from airing an interview with TX Democrat James Talarico. Larry Ellison is sucking up to Trump by turning his media empire into MAGA propaganda.

This is monstrous. ICE can't be reformed, it must be dismantled and its thugs prosecuted for their crimes against humanity.

This mid-afternoon Alex Pretti vigil at the Portland VA was not heavily promoted. But the crowd probably stretches a quarter mile or more. Americans are galvanized and grieving.

People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

It's sickening that folks who don't have a pot to piss in are the only ones that can save us from all of this. The powerful, rich and politically influential will continue to remain silent in their comfy castles on the hill. Nobody is coming to help us.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional! ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Trump’s America, you get executed for disrespecting ICE, Fed Chairs get threatened with criminal indictments if they don’t lower interest rates, and our closest allies for decades are threatened with invasion. We are in a dark place, a place some of us very much expected.

Hey, CBP isn't allowed to do any of the stuff it's doing in Minneapolis even within the confines of its extremely ridiculous "100 miles from any border" jurisdiction. It's 300 miles from Canada and 160 miles to Lake Superior. They're breaking the law standing around, let alone beating up protesters.

MPR News@mprnews.org

Border Patrol typically only has legal authority within 100 mi. of the U.S. border. That raised questions when Cdr. Gregory Bovino was at the scene of the fatal shooting of Renee Good. MPR News spoke with legal scholar César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández about that agency’s jurisdiction in Minnesota.

Hmmm…what USAID wasn’t bad for America…what if getting rid of it only hurt us and everyone else? What if the richest man in the world being responsible for ending aid to the poorest people in the world will go down as one of the most bizarre and disgusting acts of the 21st century?

Latest rabbit hole I've gone down: having Claude Code help me clean up and fine tune my Home Assistant configuration. Got through the basics and now it's moved into the "let's see what we can come up with next!" phase.
