This is exactly the principle that has fucked up everything from deli flyers to UX in billion-dollar products Once upon a time, even if you were doing something on your own, it took long enough to do that it made you think about what you were doing! You had time to think "hang on, this sucks."

I think the thing about AI and small business owners is that previously the design would have to be run past either a second person who know some amount of design, or they'd learn photoshop and some amount of design with it now they can ask the AI to do their bad design and the AI never says no

magic actually was run as a loss leader and was made widely available to everyone in part due to a zero interest rate policy and lots of sovereign wealth funds, but then that bubble popped and now magic costs a lot more (also it turns out the magic was actually being offshored and done elsewhere, so

before i became a parent i’d always roll my eyes at people who insisted that their kid was getting larger over time, but now i get it. my kid is almost two years old now and i would bet money that he’s bigger than he was when he was born

An experiment that never quite found its feet. Thanks to those who tried it (and paid for it!), you’re the best. ❤️

Alas, Peep will be shutting down on October 1. Thanks to everyone who tried it, jammed on new features, and bought into the idea. You can download an archive of your posts and uploaded images on the Account page. Reminders will be sent before shutdown to make sure everyone can grab their stuff. 🐤✌️

There's great benefit in being a first-mover and grow with things that have the potential to be wildly successful, one of which is helping shape it. You can be in the Substack heap, or you can help build the Atmosphere among probably one of the kindest builder communities you'll ever find.

Eli Mallon@iame.li

yeah it just leads to frustrating takes me: hey we invented the best way for users to publish content on the internet them: ah yes that sounds cool but i'm checking here and you're not *checks notes* "wildly successful" yet? i'm really only interested in things that are "wildly successful"

Here's an easter egg in the new Lego Batman that I think all of you will REALLY appreciate. It's so good, I had to make a video.

Just found out that Posthog’s internal query language is called HogQL and I don’t know what to do with this information

Every app is so thirsty after you take a screenshot. “Trying to share this? 🤔 There’s an easier way! 😻 po.ob/1awuM” No I’m screenshotting the fact that your button label is truncated so it says “Usage Anal…” do you have a better way for me to dunk on that with friends

Pope Leo XIV called for robust regulation of artificial intelligence and for its developers to work for the common good rather than profit, issuing a sweeping manifesto on safeguarding humankind as the technology impacts everything from work to war.

Every app’s release notes: Bug fixes and improvements Release notes before they stopped me from writing them: Y’all remember being a baby? Yeah me neither but I bet you five AMERICAN dollars that this release is like the gentle touch of a loving parent upon your newborn brow

A terrible accident – my body pinned by twisted metal, blood pooling beneath my cheek, the wind blowing shattered glass and the stink of spilled gasoline into my face. In the distance, I hear a cheerful voice calling “Just yelp for help” [Paw Patrol theme plays]
