youtube on my TV knows i really like these fucking videos where someone makes a game soundtrack for a game that could never exist and also is completely absurd so occasionally my TV starts producing the most beautifully composed sounds ever and i turn around and its just this

The only downside of having a great party with friends that you'd been planning for weeks is the comedown the next day. It's exactly the feeling I get after a con weekend too. Just makes me immediately want to see everyone again.

Luckily I was able to have a nice lazy Sunday. Slept in, went to the park. Tried to minimize screen time. Read a little Stephen King, did a little meditation, started finally reading From Hell.

Laurie Prange's performance of the titular character is just so strange (probably a bit autistic-coded?) and by the time we meet any of these characters, everyone in her life has HAD IT with her

After informally surveying my party guests Messiah of Evil is easily cruising to be the favorite, but a surprise standout that a number of people have brought up is the Night Gallery "Brenda." Like even if they didn't like it they found it compelling, particularly because of the performance.

You can pretty much pick out milestones on my gaming journey here: MUSHA, Thunder Force IV, and SRW4 were when I got into emulation. SotN was when I went back to check out the PSX library. RAD is sharing games in college. Elevator Action Returns is when I got into the Saturn.

We are sad to learn that Japanese writer Ryū Murakami has passed away at 74 years old. Murakami wrote the 1997 novel AUDITION which was adapted into Takashi Miike's horror masterpiece. He also wrote the novels Almost Transparent Blue and Coin Locker Babies. Rest in Peace.

Oct. 15, 1992 (Thu) - The Sega CD is released into video game stores. It is a CD-ROM peripheral add-on for the Sega Genesis. It plays CD-based games and adds hardware functionality such as a faster CPU and a custom graphics chip for enhanced sprite scaling and rotation.

I first heard Bauhaus when I stumbled across Bela Lugosi's Dead from the intro to The Hunger on somebody's MySpace page. I didn't even know music could sound like that. I still consider it one of the greatest songs of all time. I didn't actually see the movie itself for years. youtu.be/UZiPhX-SZ88

The alt crowd I hung with in high school was of the mall goth variety and had no connection to trad goth or post-punk music in any way. I wonder if there was any continuity or lineage at all with previous cliques of punk/goth kids, or if we had purely been the product of nu metal and Hot Topic.

A thing I have run headlong into since getting a SuperStation. I've been wanting a MiSTer for years to play arcade games accurately on my CRT. It figures that by the time I got around to it the waters have been dangerously muddied

James was already on my mind since they referred to a "Sacristan," a church title I've literally only encountered reading him. And then they go and trot out "a stone with seven eyes" and "depositum custodi"

Like all I know about cozy horror is it's apparently controversial but literally one of the most lauded ghost story writers of the 20th century referred to his work as "a pleasing terror"

Like Moebius meets Leo's Worlds of Aldebaran. A debt to BD comics worn on its sleeve but so lovingly done, loved this show. Feels kind of remarkable it even got made in retrospect.

One of my favorite sci-fi shows of the decade—of the century!—is celebrating its third anniversary today. Scavengers Reign was a shooting star🌠, poorly supported by HBO Max and then Netflix (as it was only available in a handful of countries), but I'm so glad this one season exists.

Popped into the other site to see bad YCSE takes and instead I see Former Capcom employee Atsushi Tomita casually mentioning that Street Fighter II V was originally supposed to be based on Virtua Fighter and Next Senki Ehrgeiz was supposed to be a Cyberbots anime lol
