Speaking locally; the extent to which the Irish far right is influenced by and coordinated with their counterparts in the UK and the US is pretty obvious by this point. The internet’s global village has had a lot of knock on effects

Tressie McMillan Cottom@tressiemcphd.bsky.social

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

In addition to playing Chekov and Bester, Walter Koenig wrote "The Stranger," a great (and trippy when I was a kid) 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 ep. We're losing too many good people from animated 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘬 shows. Koenig wrote "The Infinite Vulcan." Eric Bauza voiced multiple roles on 𝘓𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘬𝘴 and 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘺.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Hahahahahaha gas. I want them to keep going with this. how much water does Sally Rooney drink? How much electricity does her fridge use? How much disinformation does she spread and how many data privacy laws does she breach?

The Journal@thejournal.ie

"So Sally Rooney has published six and a half million books - that's quite a lot of books, well done - but that's about 15,000 tonnes of emissions." Ireland's data centre industry boss has lashed out at writer Sally Rooney for her opposition to the sector www.thejournal.ie/sally-rooney...

The news from Brazil and Serbia are great and show that you don't defeat the far right by copying it or trying to appeal to their supporters You do it by being uncompromising, showing the danger they pose and offering something different to the many crises people suffer from

I know absolutely nothing about Lula except that i saw someone share a clip on insta of him in celebration kissing a trans woman politician on the cheek and oh my god is that a radical act for a politician in 2026 so lets fucking go

Val 🏳️‍⚧️ reposted

Sort of revealing to see an Ireland-based Brazilian news account post about a 80/20 pro Lula vote in Ireland. Every single comment is right wing crying, almost as if social media is so completely seized by the right, globally, and there's no way out but to dismantle it entirely

If you were minded to support the Jim O’Callaghan position this week I invite you here, into this tiny calm and quiet room to just reflect on the people you’re standing with. Do these people (the ChatgTD, Aontú, Genghis Khan, an actual burning waste basket full of rotten potato peelings) appeal?

Darach Ó Séaghdha@darach.bsky.social

Yes, Brenda. All week those lefty freaks were trying to ban people hugging their granny. That’s definitely what happened. Another good faith take from the person who wants what’s best for everyone!

Haven’t seen anyone point out that, for the Ghost Rider announcement, Ryan Gosling was dressed like James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause (a movie where James Dean does not ride a motorcycle), which also means Gosling was dressed as Philip J. Fry.

I bet I could write an animated show. I feel that way like guys who think they can land planes. I could write a little animated show. I just couldn’t animate one. There’s the rub innit

You see where the kids writing cartoons today really connect with their audiences with context relevant young millennial and zoomer cultural reference points I would shake it up by delivering what kids really want: nineties television shows they’ve never heard of

Learning there is a Second Trans Independent Web Cartoon from discourse. Realistically I suspect there’s a whole raft of this kind of indie TV by now, but now I personally know of two

I see Serializd is starting to just cave on this sort of thing. There was a time they pulled Digital Circus but sorry nerds ‘sequential indie animated projects on YouTube’ are part of the grand artistic tradition of television. A continuum from General Hospital to Hazbin Hotel

My most ‘recognising the tides have changed’ is walking into Forbidden Planet for the first time in decades and finding they have a dedicated Gunpla room. I can just walk into a store in Dublin and buy Char’s Zaku. It’s like a colony dropped something something Haman Karn joke

100% wanker rate on Irish public figures who attacked the consent ad. David Quinn, Dan O'Brien, Alan Shatter, Charlie Flanagan, Brigid Laffan, Eoin O'Malley, Eddie Hobbs, Niall Boylan, Mattie McGrath. and, of course, the Four Horsemen of the Wankerpocalypse: Big Jim, Peadar, AI Ken and Matt Carthy

I think the only time I've ever drawn Clayface was in a couple panels a 2022 "Batman Hot Takes" shitpost, but that somehow feels appropriate

While RT is back in the news I just want to vent a grievance. As the Toy Show -one broadcast, one day a year - grew bigger and more cinematic each year under his stewardship, the production of original children’s programming by RTÉ (where RT got his breaks) shrunk down to nothing.

Ryan Tubridy is a smug and privileged asshole. He’s the essence of entitlement. He was caught with his greedy hands in till and was cancelled. He needs to stay cancelled. These assholes keep trying to reinvent themselves. Needs to be stamped on. Hard.
