The previous weekend I attended a fair celebrating the summer solstice (the day is known as “wianki”) in the lovely town of Rząśnik in Mazovian voivodeship of Poland. There were about 150 visitors. I was a little disappointed as I was expecting a larger crowd.

❗️Russian oil revenues dropped by $1 billion after Ukrainian drone strikes hit Baltic ports, reducing exports by 43% from 4.07 to 2.31 million barrels per day. Shipments fell to 22 tankers, with Baltic exports hitting their lowest level since the full-scale invasion. #Russia

Last year I traveled all the way to rural Vietnam to officiate a friend's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony that mixed cultures and language, and was a celebration of the best of humanity. He just sent me this post and said "this is how you lost the war."

The current US president is a practical analphabet unable to think an original thought. All of his actions are driven by his narcissistic psychopathology or special interest groups which can steer his narcissism for their gain. No further analysis is needed.

Trump: "There are windmills all over Europe. There are windmills all over the place. And they are losers. One thing I've noticed is that the more windmills a country has, the more money that country loses, and the worse that country is doing. I haven't been able to find any wind farms in China."

I would like to start a thread of funniest phrases in our native languages. Imagine just dropping it on a desk of a freshly baked translator and walking away knowing they will not know what the hell to do with THAT.

And so I bring you: Z gówna bicza nie ukręcisz. (You won’t make a whip out of a turd). Meaning: It might be impossible to accomplish a given task with tools, personel or skills available.

Russian state TV has aired a new "exposé": it turns out that Azerbaijani special services, "using their diasporas in Russia, assisted Ukrainian intelligence in carrying out the sabotage-terrorist operation Spiderweb, which aimed to strike Russia's strategic air force."

I try to find even the slightest glimmers of joy in those dreadful times. Trump being slightly bent back into shape by the overarching interests of the US and NATO brings me that joy. The awful deep State (ie: reality) finds a way.

So Trump just admitted he’s been protecting putin all along. “If it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to russia.” That’s not a threat. That’s a confession.

Per Wikipedia russia had 48,166 470 men in the age 15-64 cohort as of 1 Jan 2024. So about one in 50 men are either buried or missing a limb there. Catastrophic level of losses for their gains.

Anton Gerashchenko@antongerashchenko.bsky.social

According to the British Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin is almost certainly prepared to tolerate continuously high casualty rates so long as this does not negatively affect public or elite support for the war, and those losses can be replaced. nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/russ…

Former advisor to Trump Jan Halper-Hayes says on LBC that Putin “violated international law” but she doesn’t agree that he “morally was wrong” to do so, and that that was “three years ago anyway”, and points at the fact that Ukraine “still sends drones to Russia”. She then promptly hung up.

Every man in the first photograph is either an alcoholic or a psychopath. Anyway I applaud such expense of kerosene, which is increasingly in short supply, on the russian side.

Priests in Russia conducted an aerial cross procession over Ryazan to protect the city from Ukrainian drone attacks.

Not a comma misplaced. I was reluctant to approve my governement’s rush to spend on rearmament due to russian incompetence. Now I want my taxes increased so we will be able to defend the Baltics and crush our enemy without US air support. I believe we can do this.
