It makes more sense when you understand that the team was originally the New Orleans Mammoth

These clips really condense the usual time scale on which he asserts something, is shown it's empirically wrong, and goes back to asserting it

Me: "Even if it was unpopular, are you saying the Democratic Party should not speak out against the president sending migrants who have committed no crimes to be tortured in a foreign gulag?" @mattyglesias.bsky.social: "Yeah." Me: "Just stay silent?" Yglesias: "...You gotta win first."

One thing about all these techies fired up to gene-engineer dogs or their own offspring or other living commodities is that none of them know how a genome works

Let slip* the dogs of war! * In puddles of their own diarrhea, because cranking up jaw strength turned out to involve a tradeoff with the intestinal lining

What this piece says—and then derangedly refuses to hear itself saying!!—is that seniors spend less money because the American work force got its stable, guaranteed pensions taken away and replaced with personal investment savings. And then it wonders why they're risk-averse with the money!

The third piece I’ve read in as many days “concerned” that Americans are ”sitting on capital” that needs to be “freed up”. www.theatlantic.com/economy/2026...

Wow, giving retired workers financial security made them active participants in the economy, and taking that security away made them retreat from spending, clearly the solution is to convince all the individual retirees to pretend their individual, exhaustible savings are perpetual income

If the family of a baby born 18 years ago had put $30,000 into the NASDAQ instead of hospital bills they'd have more than half a million dollars now

Psychologically interesting choice from someone who's only here today because he flipped his McLaren around the z axis rather than either of the other two

Overnight, the fourth ICE charter to Africa landed in Kenya — likely transferring Somalis to a local charter for the last leg — and then made a removal stop to Ethiopia. Migrant passengers onboard were shackled for at least 28 hours.

This story has an absurd premise (see a movie about being trapped inside a whale with a man who was actually trapped inside a whale) and ends up being a powerful tale about the meaning of LIFE and DEATH because @davidmackau.bsky.social is brilliant www.cnn.com/2026/10/15/e...

cnn.comHe was trapped in a whale. Now, he’s seeing the movie. | CNNMichael Packard is perhaps the only person in recorded history who can weigh in with any real authority on the new film “Whalefall.”

Looking over the end of Suzy Hansen’s From Life Itself, an up-close account of how Turkey’s state, democracy, and society were reduced to the broken playthings of a corrupt and completely unaccountable strongman

Did you deploy software that hacked into government and corporate computer systems? Ordinary teens have gone to federal prison for that!

If it were conscious it would be a real dumbass who always jumps in and interrupts you without understanding what you're talking about and constantly lies and does things wrong and pretends to take responsibility while lying about what it did wrong so what's the case for not being mean to it again?

It's weird how the same people who brought in the pitch clock and the extra-innings ghost runner to spare baseball fans from watching too much baseball think it's a good idea to add more early-round non-elimination playoff games

I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.
