everyone engaging with the vibecoded recompiles and game mashup mods is effectively handing a perfect DMCA case to lawyers on a silver platter, and they'll only have themselves to blame when game ownership and mod support are eventually taken from everyone
hope skate in call of duty was worth it
I think Wolverine is a peak example of outrage merchants manufacturing gaming "discourse".
If you sat someone down to play it, made sure they hadn't seen any of the clickbait, they would probably have fun with the game.
And yes, during my playthrough I had many criticisms towards the game. Difficulty is a tiny bit uneven, with exploration being really basic and combat unforgiving. Visuals are generally nice but inconsistent. Final act drags on too long. Always-win QTE is odd, but I thought we all hated them anyway?
Finally I guess this points at a wider industry issue as well. The game's critic score and user score on MC is between 7 and 8 out of 10. Yet it's getting the treatment of an absolute dumpster fire, reminiscent of the reaction MindsEye received. Since when is 7 considered bad, or even "mid"?

I don't really care if the driving sections are difficult to fail. I didn't buy the game for driving! They only act as a short thrilling way to stitch segments together.
There's also the straight up misinfo of people posting clips with violence censorship on, to push a "game's too soft" narrative.
In the age of social media, we are constantly pushed to experience the latest blockbuster film or the most recent hit video game. But if you just want to replay your favorite game instead, time spent doing something you love isnβt time wasted.

Eurogamer, you're better than this. Titling the article "Rockstar confirms GTA 6 won't have microtransactions or generative AI at launch" when the actual quote from R* never scoped it to just "at launch" is just disingenuous shit.
and like, who knows, they didn't say it'll NEVER have mtx or genAI neither - as much as I doubt the latter, but let's just allow that for the sake of the argument - but there's no point putting words in someone's mouth.
EG's fallen off hard ever since IGN took over, and it's sad to see.
In response to the unprecedented number of game developers laid off this year, we have created a bundle on itch to benefit a Game Industry Hardship Fund, managed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. More than 100 games for 10+ bucks! Please share widely and donate generously!

Iβd love western media kindly stop repeating Russian propaganda that justifies the genocide of my people @reuters. I know Reuters would go and say they are βjust quotingβ Russia, but maybe we shouldnβt βjust quoteβ war criminals justifying their war crimes ,
Just saying, Xbox would have a hella easy win (which they badly need) right now if they committed to physical games but we all know they won't
I hate console wars but currently this is less plastic box dick measuring and more "the suits decide to ruin gaming again" regardless of where you play
the Xbox price hike is hilarious to me, because with Microsoft bankrolling OpenAI for years, they've contributed to the current RAM shortage; asking POTENTIAL customers to cushion your own self inflicted blow when your console is already stomped by Sony just sounds like a bad joke
I mean there wasn't much in terms of motivating people to buy an Xbox in 2026 prior to this, and here's them just coming out openly like "HEY YOU!! DO NOT BUY OUR CONSOLE!!"
what even is this industry istg
hey man we used AI in the production process of this game but don't worry none of it made it in the game, it was a huge waste of time and money, and we could've just looked at stock photos at the end of the day. You have to accept the future.
"But, two years since its launch, the site has around just 10% of Xβs estimated global users."
This is presented as a failure. At 2yo, having 10% of the users of its biggest rival, which is 20yo, is a failure.
No tech is allowed to just be a success, it has to be a blockbuster or it doesn't count.
studios choosing to talk about it at least makes it a bit easier to decide which games to avoid. the next year or so is packed with games and I've got a massive backlog to work through anyway
I suppose it's time to move my active/new projects to GitLab, which I've been looking to do anyway out of many other frustrations with GH, but this is baso the final nail in the coffin - not least because they didn't seem to bother informing users about this at all?!
If you use GitHub (especially if you pay for it!!) consider doing this *immediately*
Settings -> Privacy -> Disallow GitHub to train their models on your code.
GitHub opted *everyone* into training. No matter if you pay for the service (like I do). WTH
github.com/settings/cop...
AI companies continue to claim that they're all about transparency and ethics, but this is a setting hidden away in the Copilot settings, and enabled to default - designed intentionally to prevent you from ever finding out that your code is being used to train a slop machine.
Jesus wept.
To say that both NVIDIA and DF both missed the mark is not saying enough.
In every instance presented in the video, the games look objectively uncanny and artificial with DLSS 5, but Oliver and Rich are glazing it like there's no tomorrow.
DLSS 5 brings next-gen quality, photo-realistic lighting to GeForce RTX 50 series. We've been hands-on with four games and here are our first impressions: youtu.be/4ZlwTtgbgVA
DF's coverage of AI has been a joke for long - Oliver's video on generative AI tools 2-3 years ago was completely out of touch for a channel dedicated to gaming tech - and combined with Alex's diehard "stutterstruggle" cult always made me sceptical of supporting the channel in any meaningful way.
This, however, is just an entirely new low. The fact that some DF team members also appear not to have been informed about the video yet are now bearing the brunt of angry gamers on the Internet also goes to show the level of irresponsibility here. I hope the Nvidia money was good.
Disappointing.
π Green Party WINS Aigburth ward Liverpool City Council for the first time β overturning more than 100 years of legacy-party control.
Huge thanks to more than 100 volunteers for getting out this big Green vote and to everyone in Aigburth for choosing hope.
Iranβs people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
It seems the thieving grifter pieces of human filth at "superhuman" are using my work without my consent to create AI editors based on me. The world isn't terrible enough, we also have to deal with people just stealing our work to burn resources and enrich themselves in a brand new way? Fuck off
I happened to be in downtown SF today, so I tried stopping by the Superhuman AI office to ask about the AI βeditorβ based on me. Unfortunately just got a very nice office manager who said no one was in.
Lots of games people in Grammarlyβs pool too besides meβ¦
recent discord shenanigans are slowly driving me towards dropping nitro and maybe even leaving the service altogether - the mobile app has been incredibly buggy for years now, voice chat suffers connection issues every time me and my friends play, video attachments sometimes just don't load fully...
the logical alternative is to move to self hosted solutions, which I don't mind doing, but it is very funny to me that the primary motivator of people leaving big tech products behind will be the big tech industry itself through its sheer incompetence
look I appreciate that React, Vue, Angular etc. are far from perfect but at work yesterday I had to look at a "dynamic" web app where the DOM was being updated manually in plain JavaScript and that ain't it chief
An important practice I've picked up since I started working in software professionally is to avoid magic constants at all costs.
It's nice and easy to have some logic done in a one-liner, but good luck explaining it to your colleagues years down the road when you can't even remember what it meant.
Overall I think professional experience in the field is less about the technical knowledge - you should treat that as independent learning, and strive to mentor/coach/support colleagues - and more about the team and planning aspects of it.
NEW: A Texas county medical examiner found that Geraldo Lunas Campos was choked to death by a guard while he was held in ICE custody earlier this month.
Geraldo is the sixth person to die in ICE detention this year.
Both Reform & the Tories openly call for ICE-style immigration enforcement squads in the UK.
While Labour tries to compete by boasting about its own number of raids & deportations that are barely any different.
Immigration enforcement shot two more people in the US overnight.
