I love this. Every blue state should be doing everything in its power to max out the vote.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced Friday that she has restored voting rights for 66,085 people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to vote due to past felony convictions. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Democracy Alert: The house passed the NDAA which merges our military and intel with Iseral’s. This is VERY dangerous and Iseral is part of two genocides currently. Also, they attached the SAVE Act to this bill, which is voter suppression especially for women. Please call your Senate reps today!

Duckworth: "He appointed the most incompetent secretary of defense in our nation's history. All he seems to be worried about is testosterone levels in our troops instead of making sure that he actually has a plan to execute this mission in Iran and ending it before even more Americans get killed."

Tomorrow, the House will vote on the NDAA, which includes a provision to merge parts of our military with the IDF. This amendment is an existential threat to American sovereignty and democracy. Every member of Congress must vote NO.

The best way to get to the bottom of the McConnell question is for the governor to appoint a replacement. The GOP legislature passed a law stripping him of that power, but it goes against the state constitution. If they refuse to seat the replacement, take them to court. There’s zero downside.

ICE shooting victim in Maine was a 26-year-old man from Colombia with work authorization and a Social Security Number, likely an asylum applicant. It'll be interesting to see how he came to be on ICE's radar.

David J. Bier@davidjbier.bsky.social

A theme in ICE shootings is putting their bodies in front of vehicles. This practice is dangerous for the officers and manufactures a reason for them to shoot drivers if they make one wrong move. One witness says the victim said, "I tried to stop" before dying. www.pressherald.com/2026/07/13/b...

Lindsey Graham was a simple, tragic man to understand. He lacked a moral core. The great empty spaces of his life were filled with an insatiable need for “relevance.” He found it as a cast member in the most malignant reality show ever made. steveschmidt.substack.com/p/lindsey-kn...

A Police Executive Research Forum report from 2014 showed that CBP officers were purposely placing themselves in front of moving vehicles, and then shooting at them. This isn’t something that can be reformed. Abolish ICE. www.npr.org/sections/the...

RESULT: Darializa Avila Chevalier, a challenger backed by New York's left, has ousted Rep. Adriano Espaillat. An earthquake result, which means all 3 congressional candidates backed by Mamdani have won: Chevalier, Brad Lander, and Claire Valdez.

There is no world in which this is okay.     Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito did not recuse himself from cases involving Trump’s Treasury Department while his own son was secretly working there as a political appointee and attorney. 🧵

Some very good news out of a Texas federal court: Alex Jones doesn't have standing to appeal a Bankruptcy court order that placed InfoWars' assets in state receivership, meaning they can be licensed or sold to us. More to come, obviously, but we're almost there.

The United States is going through a severe reality adjustment. For the first time in our nation's history, a political party in power has assumed an enemy position against United States citizens. Our government, has become the enemy of our people. Our citizens are caught off guard. - Catherine -

You’ve probably had your limit at this point, please read this explanation of what happened yesterday and share it widely. It’s more important than ever to make sure people understand why we have to vote for democracy and we have to get started now if we want to be able to vote.

SCOTUS, which ordered Alabama to create a second Black opportunity district just 3 years ago, has lifted that order a week before the primary. The Purcell principle says courts shouldn't permit chaos too close to an election—it's now an open question whether there will even be a primary on schedule.

I often say that the fight for democracy is the fight of our generation. But let me be clear, if you aren’t fighting for Black voting rights right now then you aren’t really fighting for democracy.

Jeff Bezos and his wife are the lead sponsors of tonight's Met Gala. Now seems like a good time to remind folks of all the ways Bezos is shafting American consumers and Amazon workers — and how his wealth is putting our democracy at risk. https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/amazon-ceo-jeff-bezos

I’m listening to seasoned reporters talk about how frightened they were during the shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner last night and imagining how much worse it is for America’s children. If there’s ever been a time to pass sensible gun control laws, it’s now.
