Happy Thanksgiving week, everyone. We’ve been spending the last few days addressing food insecurity across NYC.
Shout out to our supporters, small-dollar contributors, and volunteers who make all this happen and help us support similar efforts across the country.
I am really grateful. ♥️ Thank you
For example, this might look like a setting that allows Bluesky users to specify whether they consent to outside developers using their content in AI training datasets
Bluesky won’t be able to enforce this consent outside of our systems. It will be up to outside developers to respect these settings
I can’t tell you how different it is on X now after so many people have left. I have always followed mostly right-wing accounts because I cover them, and they are running out of people to pick fights with. So they’re just mostly fighting with each other.
One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election.
Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.
“There is no way this is the case,” says the head of Instagram about Bluesky’s meteoric growth, after Threads spent the last year refusing to stop throttling political content.
“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist”

I know there’s a ton of solidarity in the state and in this country for people and voters who stood against this kind of treatment of citizens and non-citizens alike.
However, you can imagine how difficult it is to be in their shoes and not feel the country’s majority hadn’t, in this month’s…
There is pervasive fear and panic. There are lots of tears and still enduring affection for a county, a state, and a nation that just resoundingly abandoned the Haitian immigrant community at the ballot box.
"We don’t want to leave. We love this place… It is home."

Good morning Blue Sky, happy new week to one and all! 😊
The colder misty mornings of winter are upon us now. 🥶 It's worth the frozen fingers and ruddy complexion to get up early and witness scenes like these.

I’ve said it before, will doubtless say it again: These folks are going to be permanently resentful because they’re seeking political power as a substitute for cultural power, and it’s never going to give them what they actually want.
If Biden and Harris want to show They Are Better and cooperate fully with the Trump transition because of principles of democratic transfer of power (even if Trump instead tried to violently coup), fine I’m not even gonna touch that one. It is well within reason under these circumstances, when…
I gotta say, Bluesky feels like my early days of Twitter, when it was FUN, when I first realized I was part of a great community.
I'm finding you folks through replies to my posts -- followed back 600-ish people in the past few days.
Thanks for finding me, folks. 🙏💙
