@drscottarthurmp.bsky.social presided over the reopening of Braid Rd to streams of cars in either direction, to great fanfare. Any comment Scott Arthur MP? (We will not be accepting anything blaming another political party - dems the rulez)

What happens when you create a high-traffic neighbourhood by removing the modal filters on the Braid Estate… SUVs end up on their side Junction of Braid Rd and Hermitage Dr. Around school pick up time, Thursday 1st Oct

Best seat at the buffet.

It was good to attend the AGM of The Welcoming Edinburgh this evening. Through English language classes, employability support, home energy advice, a community fridge, and a wide range of social and cultural activities, the organisation provides practical help and a genuine sense of belonging.

Road is still closed but The Innocent Path is not restricted. The crossing itself is out of action, but with the road closed there's no need for it and you can cross a few metres east. #EdTravCyc Token picture of broken water main.

Seen a report (Reddit) of a burst water main on Duddingston Park South which looks like it's taken the Innocent Path crossing out of action. #EdTravCyc www.reddit.com/r/Edinburgh/...

Reminder that, wildly, Edinburgh councillors declined to continue 20mph through Currie because it would make the 1am night bus two minutes slower (there was no impact predicted for day buses except making them much more competitive with private cars):

20's Plenty for Us@20splenty.bsky.social

When Wales set a 20mph limit for most urban/village roads it made walking and cycling safer. On urban/village roads there were 23.9% fewer pedestrian casualties and 26.5 fewer cyclist casualties. But the largest casualty reduction was for car/van/taxi occupants where casualties reduced by 29.2%.

The vast majority of people use the buses in Edinburgh. To make sure they get the best service we need more bus gates/bus lanes, bus priority at traffic signals and expansion of bus lane hours. Politically a no-brainer for even the most timid of councillors. www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinbur...

🚨 New research by us! 📣 Most British drivers don't know how dangerous SUVs are to other road users, but adding information to SUV marketing materials seems to do almost nothing to change people's plans to buy SUVs Here's a 🧵 on why harder action is going to be needed 1/10

I am once again going to bang my wee drum about how many folks go and pay to holiday cycling about in a rewilded/tree-lined car-free 15-minute city and don't stop to think for a minute that home could be just like that, after they drive home again from Center Parcs.

NEW in @scotsman.com: Where you could be cycling to in the capital later this summer - new areas for booming Edinburgh Voi electric bike hire scheme www.scotsman.com/news/transpo...

The length of time between Porty getting some new dropped kerbs installed, ¹ and some entitled driver blocking it with their ego-pram is, sadly, measured in hours.

You going to show some leadership, @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social, and fix this mess, or just follow your predecessor's example and happily wash your hands of it while blaming someone else.

In any other sensible world, when a mistake is made in the paperwork, IT IS FIXED - not by changing the physical world to match the incorrect documents, but by updating the text. Only Edinburgh council could make such a mess of it

Just FYI there’s an account on here called @redditspaceviewes.bsky.social (with over 200k followers) that is posting a bunch of AI slop (including a “Saturn polar hexagon” with 8 sides) and claiming it’s NASA imagery. If you see anything posted by them, it’s likely fake.

This is excellent, and the soup in the cafe is pretty good too.

Alas! The 71st anniversary of the death of Fanny Feast (Please don’t make any jokes here about how it’s amazing what they can do with ice cream flavours these days. I’m not here for that sort of smut)

The only way Reform UK could win a general election is through our first-past-the-post system. If we had proportional representation, the threat would evaporate. We don't have PR because Starmer has blocked it. This allows him to say: vote Labour or you get Farage. Because it's all he has left.

Furious residents say they are being pushed to the ‘brink of financial ruin’ by council wardens **legitimately** ticketing them for parking **illegally, on double yellow lines**, next to their homes.

SUVs like this one, with increased ground clearance, are more likely to ride-up and roll over. As well as 80% more likely to kill a child with increased bonnet heights They also need to end!

The fundamental flaw of Alex Cole-Hamilton is not that he's English, or a Lib Dem, or anti-independence; but that he is, simply, an insufferable cunt
