Do me a favor. Find your local newspaper, local politician and senator and call them. Tell them that you’ve determined that a basic income and a common wealth fund are your most pressing policy changes

Dear forced readers, If you don’t take a shower every day you stink 😷 What would it be like if you went in public without showering? It takes a small amount of effort. Can you do it daily? If you don’t care about others wellbeing it’s the same It takes a small amount of effort. Can you do it?

They give social security to elderly because if they didn’t they would probably die One day people that were against UBI will be seen as villains because a UBI is the least society needs to do when society has made jobs the only way for survival in a jobs barren world #jobapocalypse #ai

Since 1890 we have had about a 200 years long pilot of not having an basic income and not having a frontier safety valve How has that worked out? In basic income pilots recipients have all had a better experience than without Recipients of a basic income are better with it than without

It is already dystopian to have no choice but to find an employer to sponsor your existence despite the basics for existence being abundant. It's even more dystopian to then automate those jobs and demand to be able to find another employer to sponsor your existence. Our demand should be freedom.

“Work is more than just income.”  @a-austin.bsky.social explains how a federal jobs guarantee is preferable to UBI because it gives people valuable skills and experience that will allow them to accelerate their careers. Read @theguardian.com:

Basic income is about more than money. It’s about the power to say no. Karl Widerquist argues that freedom means having real control over whether to cooperate with others, rather than being forced into cooperation by economic necessity.

People would rather end their life than call the suicide hotline It goes against every human instinct to talk to a random stranger on a phone about their problems A phone number for a crisis is gaslighting when what people need is real change, not a pep talk #capitalism

What changes when we stop judging people in poverty and trust them with cash? Alameda’s Rise Up pilot gave 150 low-income households $1,000 month for two years, unconditionally. They reported better mental health, greater savings and less reliance on debt. zurl.co/MVw2e

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

If we had universal basic income and affordable housing then changing jobs or careers would not be the existential threat it is today.

They did the accounting on it and it’s far more affordable to address housing and homelessness with a UBI beforehand than to address homelessness after it happens I’ll say it again that if you block people from the commons then you, the state, take the responsibility of housing y feeding

Homelessness would reduce substantially with UBI imo. It's needed now more than ever.

Billionaires say their wealth is just unrealized gains and can't be taxed. Yet somehow the ultra-wealthy found nearly half a billion in cash to influence this year's midterms. #TaxBillionaires support #UniversalBasicIncome

Call up your senators and congress people and tell them you support euthanasia It’s cruel to keep people alive for so long in pain. It should be a persons choice what they do with their life especially in psychopathic societies

A good person wouldn’t keep you in confusion for years on end A good person wouldn’t let you feel lost or alone during tough times A good person wouldn’t want worship and ignore you in times of need or not communicate So why believe in an entity claiming to be good who does those things?

Religions power is that it tries to make you forget all the horrible things you’ve gone through It stood by while you were harmed, abused and harassed Don’t forget it, don’t excuse it If a person did what “god” does, they would be considered a psychopathic onlooker

“George viewed the owners of locations as ‘the robber that takes all that is left.’ versus owners of patents of products… People could choose not to buy a specific new product, but they cannot choose to lack a place upon which to stand…” Land value tax

I’m calling for an unconditional basic subsidy If we can afford to give corporations and banks billions willy nilly and give the wealthy tax breaks then we can afford an unconditional basic subsidy

Use your words@useyourwords2.bsky.social

“We can’t afford social programs” Wait how much are you giving corporations in subsidies?

Something we have not seen governments do much of is asking harmed communities what it needs, asking indigenous, asking minorities, asking foreign countries, asking immigrants, asking the lower classes, asking women, asking children, asking the environment what it needs…

people know what they need “the only people who think more about money than the rich are the poor” maybe ask the poor what they need and you’ll be remembered imagine being the first mayor or senator or country to implement a UBI or common wealth fund. you’d make history

She makes an excellent point If people aren’t working because of technological unemployment those people have no income If people have no income then governments aren’t getting any tax income For coders: If (people have no money) { governments have no tax money }

UBI Works@ubiworks.bsky.social

AI is taking away the first rung of the career ladder. IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva warns that young graduates could be left with low-paying service jobs as AI disrupts traditional career paths.

Now, if a government is a currency issuer that’s one thing But many economists have suggested a UBI and common wealth fund funded by earth use tax, wealth tax, technology tax, AI tax, land value tax, etc funneled into a UBI Because projections are, if people have no money -> economic collapse

An unpopular reason for UBI: People could stay in their own communities Family wouldn’t have to move across the country away from support networks just for a job “People staying in the same place is a sign of good governance” UBI would build up small communities and lower climate impact

"So who is the homicidal maniac in this story? It’s a scarcely examined abstraction we call “the economy”, a monster to whom anything and everything must be sacrificed without question or resistance: farmed animals, wild ones, even, unless we are fortunate, human beings in their millions."

Studying the modern causes of poverty and solutions the following stood out as starting points👇: UBI - a minimum income Common Wealth Fund - a prosperity dividend Open commons - a share of earth Anti-price gouging - limits on basic necessities Economics 2.0 is coming out now and that’s the start 👆

We know how to solve poverty We know how to solve homelessness We already have an understanding of the causes WE ALREADY KNOW THE SOLUTIONS!!! It’s not a question of how or why anymore it’s a question of when are we going to start… It all starts with an unconditional basic income…
