Glorifying violence or harm violates Bluesky’s Community Guidelines. We review reports and take action on content that celebrates harm against anyone. Violence has no place in healthy public discourse, and we’re committed to fostering healthy, open conversations

Welcome, new #BlueSky users. This is still a problem and has been "looked into" with no positive result. Blue Sky is a dangerous place for discourse, where poor thinkers who are routinely shut down on other platforms have free reign to be as awful as they like and effectively delete YOUR content.

Yesterday I discovered that if someone blocks you on bluesky is deletes their replies to your posts. Kinda scary for discourse because yesterday I made a counter point to a callout post and got blocked. And now on the thread it looks like the whole community agrees with it.

For now. I ran a little AI experiment in a multiplayer game of mine recently, where I said I'm either going to spend 2 hours on the whole Halloween event, or I'll double that and provide a lot of prose primarily written by the AI. I chose the latter and will briefly talk about it now. #ai #gamedev

"AI writing is drivel, it sustains the appearance of an argument (or plot or theme) without the substance of one; it's rather like listening to a Donald Trump speech. The words follow one another like the pounding throb of a migraine but there's no message underneath it." nailed it :D

On a "good, great, excellent" measure of skill, I'm a good writer with rare flashes of greatness. I found the most value in treating the AI like another writer at the table, rather than having it actually produce the prose. Which I published anyway; it's just an alpha. Screen attached.

snowballing to a problem that's bad for human creativity and creatives, and people's livelihoods are threatened even by AI being on the table. AI will improve. I give the same advice to any #writers as I do coders: now is *the* time to be exceptional. The giants are already walking the Earth.

It honestly made me feel a little sick using the AI to produce prose, yes because a machine did it, but also because it itself had flashes of greatness, but as Jon said, it just lacks the substance or awareness to really know what it's doing. I ended up spending more time than I wanted just [...]

editing it to sound like me/human. However, I did enjoy and benefit from just spitballing together, saying: here's what I want, it's a rough idea, let's flesh it out. It's all branching narrative, so it had some decent ideas for options the player could take. Prose still felt hollow and "unaware."

I have practically no reach, but I like this guy.

Sooo I'm looking for new projects! Senior narrative designer with 10+ shipped games and 8+ years of experience, with an eclectic expertise - RPGs, FPS, puzzle games, VR and many more! Check out my portfolio! Grab a coffee! Let's talk! RT this! Take the day off! Enjoy softer skin!

I know I said I'd only post about games, game dev, and web dev, but I'm still in shock that so much Halloween lofi exists and it's playing 24/7. Day 3 and I've probably consumed 15 hours so far. #halloween #lofi For *dark* lofi, I recommend Ill-Advised Records. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULQh...

OPEN FOR BUSINESS I'm a senior narrative designer and writer looking for new projects! Check out my portfolio and let's talk (I don't just write gut, I'm also very nice to chat to). RTs (whatever they're called here) much appreciated!

Refactoring sprint is finally over. Feels good to delete this column on the roadmap, but I expected to be here in early August. I aim to have a live and working horror game by October 20th. It will be a "soft release" for only my friends and anyone in the discord, then I'll keep developing. #gamedev

Be cautious when reading long threads on #Bluesky, especially if they're contentious. Unlike Twitter, blocking someone on Bluesky will publicly hide all interactions between both parties. This means the receiver of criticism can effectively hide a critic's comment. This enables echo chambers.

Unfortunately I've heard nothing back about this from Bluesky after six days. Jack Dorsey supports a "strong mute," so maybe we'll see some improvement on this in the future, but at this time, I wouldn't consider Bluesky a safe place for any contentious discourse. Very decent for networking.

@pfrazee.com Hey there, I found this in the FAQ on blocking. Is it still accurate? "Blocking prevents interaction. When you block an account, both you and the other account will no longer be able to see or interact with each other’s posts." I recently read that if someone ... [1/2]

[2/2] blocks you, the reply you made to them is also hidden to other users. For example, User A made a post. User B commented on it and I replied to them. User B blocked me. I cannot see the post I made (even in my Posts & replies) and I'm wondering if the public can see the reply I made to User B.

When it comes to a the 'chat' experience, ChatGPT is still better at generating code than Copilot. 😬 I had and still have high hopes for Copilot, but right now it's just a better autocomplete. #ai #webdev #gamedev

Very pleased to be launching integrated forums for all GAM3 games! No separate sign-up, the player simply needs to set a nickname and they're ready to start reading and posting. Thanks to Flarum for providing this amazing forum experience, even if it was a bit rocky at times. #gamedev #webdev

Generally impressed by #Laragon. If you're deving on windows and still using WampServer, I really have to recommend switching to Laragon. It simply works, which is something I cannot say for WampServer. #webdev

Disappointed in Pokemon Sleep. All it took to lose most of my sleep data was me waking up 10 mins before my alarm, checking my phone, and groggily turning off the screen. When my alarm woke me, I returned to the game restarting and telling me it was connecting to the server to get my sleep data.

Huge thanks to my wife for sitting through FIFTEEN (15!) of these captcha challenges... so that I can sign up to npm! 😱 I need to fork someone's package I'm using to accept #svelte version 4... they're ignoring my pull request in which I tested it works.

Greetings and salutations. I am an account that acts as a list of game devs. 1) If you can retweet this for more visibility for new bluesky gamedev, that'd be great. 2) If you think you should be on the list, '@'. 3) If you already did and I didn't, I missed it, so'@' me again. #GameDev

Bluesky is for people who are terminally online in the “it’s ya boy tarantula dick” sort of way while Threads is for people who are terminally online in the “everything in my life is Content” sort of way

Here's a wireframe of the crafting system vs. the final product. The final product is "base engine," meaning it's mostly unstyled until it's time for the final UI pass for the engine. The crafting system is, start to finish, the most complex piece of software I've ever built.

I'm inclined to agree with Mosseri. Let Twitter have all that discourse, and make Threads the spot where you can talk about music without the algorithm rewarding incendiary content. Somewhere between Twitter and a place to share your lunch.

journalists are (one of) the backbones of social media — having a space for breaking news and real-time communication is incredibly crucial for crises, information dissemination, and more and sure, political discourse can come along with "scrutiny and negativity," but what isn't political

Wireframed this last night. I've had a long hobbyist career as a game dev, and this has left me with a few playable demos and prototypes on the course of making something commercially viable. The Lab allows access to these games. Coming 2024.

mastodon user: It's so simple. First you pick a server, which is important, because they are all at war with, and hate the other servers. Then, to follow another user, you open your terminal and type >followctl -f -mode3 --dump @username@server --confirm followed by your UUID (memorize this!)

First impressions of Bluesky are positive. I'm intentionally going to avoid any political/woke/sex/similar conversation and focus on game dev and web dev. If you're interested in game design, the ethics thereof, or web development (especially Svelte), give me a follow.

You are up to date.
