A stellar #lastfourwatched on this #letterboxdfriday (R-L)โ€” A no-budget shocksploitation freakout that ain't half bad; a rewatch of probably the best animated feature ever; a moody Bob Clark joint full of Vietnam-era anxiety; and a scuzzy stylish instant new favorite featuring a singing parasite.

#lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday afternoon edition! Watching Roar and You Can See Everything back to back has given me permanent brain damage (complimentary). Hot takes for individual films in the alt text.

Hit a bit of a rough patch with one gruesome exception. Hobgoblins is a bit good bad and a bit bad bad but mostly bad bad; Dracula's Daughter was disappointing; I โค๏ธ U Ashley Joanna Williams; and a movie that's awful in a way only the British could achieve. #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday

Here, have a midweek #lastfourwatched ! We've got: ๐Ÿ‘ฟ An overstuffed mashup of Korean folk horror and 5 other horror subgenres that still goes hard ๐Ÿ’Ž Cheesy fun with a diabolical genie ๐Ÿˆ A masterpiece of psychological tension created with just light and shadows ๐Ÿ’€ The best Tales from the Crypt movie

It's a double dose of spooky season #lastfourwatched for this #letterboxdfriday: ๐Ÿฉธ atmospheric lesbian vampire euro-horror ๐Ÿชฉ bad bad prom night with terrible disco moves ๐Ÿ‘ธ good bad prom night with a horny vengeful demon ghost ๐Ÿ”ช top tier Elm Street installment

Part two of #lastfourwatched for this #letterboxdfriday involves a Carpenter meta horror banger, and 3 solid 3ยฝ star movies in which women are: โ–ช๏ธ preserved in a glass tube in Boris Karloff's basement โ–ช๏ธ eating pizza off the pizza boy's corpse โ–ช๏ธ possibly luring men to a watery grave

I watched enough stuff to do another spooky #lastfourwatched for this #letterboxdfriday: ๐ŸŽƒ Offbeat entry in the Halloween franchise ๐Ÿš Fun Scooby Doo short for #Hooptober extra credit ๐Ÿ‘ถ Monster baby movie that goes hard ๐ŸŽ Silent classic that inspired Bergman and countless other filmmakers

It's all spooky season now! ๐ŸงŸ A fine, fun, popcorn horror movie ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ Filling an embarrassing gap in my Lynch viewing history, probably his least funny movie (complimentary) ๐Ÿ”ช ๐Ÿฉธ The queerest Elm Street with the creepiest Freddy, and a documentary about its star #lastfourwatched #letterboxdfriday

Began this week's #lastfourwatched by revisiting an old favorite (I still know all the words to Cool Rider)โ€” then settled into spooky season with a foundational bisexual horror text; the essential Director's Cut of another old favorite; and a tragic tale of teenage lycanthropy. #letterboxdfriday

Happy #BiVisibilityDay!

A double dose of #lastfourwatched for today's #letterboxdfriday! Guaranteed to be half musicals! First up, a foursome that seems to suffer from serious star inflation (do not adjust your set, 5 stars for Xanadu is correct), but whatever, I unapologetically love all of these. Go see Coyote vs. Acme!

This second batch of #lastfourwatched for #letterboxdfriday consists of two more cult musicals, an 80s cult comedy classic, and a no-budget sequel to one of the movies in the previous foursome!

I have a strong aversion to live action adaptations of animated classics so I've avoided this one, butโ€” it comes highly recommended, Parker Posey and Alan Cumming are in it, and it just showed up on Criterion, so LFG. #Cultember the tenth is Josie and the Pussycats!

#Cultember #9. We're really doing this.

I have become aware that Alex Cox made a sequel (that Universal would not let him call a sequel) to Repo Man. It had a tiny budget so he filmed almost the whole thing in front of a green screen in less than two weeks and damn I probably need to see this. #Cultember

The dialogue is terrible, and also kinda great? I don't know, This movie is causing a local reality distortion field in my apartment. There's a character named 666. #Cultember

For #Cultember watch #8 let's do another musical, like, say, this classic of tonal whiplash, a bleak and tawdry tale that is punctuated by elaborately staged 30s pop numbers. It's Pennies from Heaven!

Guys. We're in a golden age for cinema & horror. Word of mouth is back. Gone are the days of a bad opening weekend dooming you to early VOD. Now audiences are listening to their friends & reviews and checking shit out because they hear it's good, and that makes it worth going out for. This is HUGE.

BUDDY continues to be a massive win for original indie horror at the box office, with the film making more money in its second weekend of release than its debut weekend: bloody-disgusting.com/movie/396690...

For my seventh #Cultember installment, let's follow up the Repo Man rewatch by revisiting another mainstay of my high school years that I haven't seen in ages, Better Off Dead...!
