Hey there π
I'm a Haitian-German software developer living in France and also a Solopreneur.
I'm currently working on transl.me and trying to validate interest in OwnAI.app.
I write my apps with Laravel & @vuejs.org.
I hope my journey on BlueSky to be like the Twitter of old with friends.
β
This week on MT, @ianlandsman.com pitches @aaronfrancis.com on a new project that he thinks Aaron should take on - using AI (?) to make a sequel to Red Alert (?!).
Just published a new article! ππΎ
When you're brand new, how do you select your first marketing channel?
Many thanks for spreading the love with β€οΈ and π!
From the recent Jetbrains survey:
"The surveyβs gender distribution shows a striking lack of diversity, with the overwhelming majority of respondents identifying as male."
If you have the means to support Larabelles, I strongly urge you to do so: larabelles.com/support-us
You should be using JavaScript sets more often
Now in all browsers and Node - these 7 new set methods are key for when trying to compare two arrays or sets of data.
Be biased towards shipping.
It's just too common of a story β took a long time to build the "perfect" thing, then people didn't want the thing after all. Months β years β wasted.
That saidβ¦
I also think there's a lot of knee-jerk advice of "just ship it."

haha. it's funny to me too!
When is technology going to help us in more ways than just making society more "productive."
My back aches!
(ok, ok, I know, I need to do my stretches)
"I will never, ever, ever, be good enough".
Constant exposure to brilliance from people significantly more competent than you can be a double edged sword where it's both a confidence killer and a knowledge and skill enhancer.
A lovely episode from the Laracasts Snippet podcast

Great post. The thing is the coding knowledge you have and want to use ends up being a pretty small part of the the building a SaaS process. Which may be another angle to look at things from. bsky.app/profile/zuza...
I just published my 27th post. A bit personal and vulnerable, and I really wonder how I'm going to feel about it in the morning, but for now - here it is:

This has been such a helpful framework for me:
stress = demands / resources
The breakthrough was realizing there are really only two ways to reduce stress:
1. Lower demands
2. Increase resources
One of my biggest mental breakthroughs was when I changed my mindset from
"This system is stupid and I'm going to spend all my energy fighting it."
to
"Even though this system is stupid, I'm going to operate within it to my advantage."
Much better results, way less stress.
So many scary things, that also can be fulfilling: startups, writing, marriage, kids.
To guarantee failure, donβt even try. Donβt start.
To guarantee failure, quit as soon as it becomes difficult.
Success isnβt guaranteed, but certain failure is in your control.
Your audience might love your content enough to buy a course.
But a SaaS? They need an actual problem that needs solving - consistently, every single month
A breakdown of the low-lift way that I tip my toe into a new advertising channel:
I recently tried advertising on LinkedIn for the first time.
Why? Because we know coaches (our market) are active on LinkedIn, and due to job title targeting it should be easy to target them.

Manage PHP extensions with ease! π
Explore PIE, the new PHP Installer for Extensions. It treats extensions like first-class citizens, just like Composer packages. Give it a try and share your thoughts!
Does anyone else feel relieved to have a slight return to healthier times (at least in spirit) with this shift to new social media platforms?
I have more thoughts for my blog, but yeah I feel comforted and relived to have a sense of community and connection re-emerging.
Announcing the pre-release of the PHP Installer for Extensions (PIE) π
Think of it as Composer for PHP extensions: theyβre distributed via Packagist and handled similar to regular PHP packages.
Check it out and share your feedback ππ

PHP 8.4 is one of the most exciting releases of PHP.
It brings one absolutely needed feature: HTML 5 support, and one absolutely delightful feature: Property hooks

Thanks for the starter packs
@mijustin.bsky.social@ianlandsman.com
I've been able to find back some Laravel and indie maker folks here very easily and quickly! π.
Let's make Bluesky a better place for indie founders.
It's a fair criticism that Starter Packs were a great marketing strategy.
That once the novelty wears off, Bluesky might go downhill just like Threads.
And to prevent that, we need to put effort to nurture the community β
