There are 24 mainline CoD titles since it started in 2003. Who would be interested in a deep-dive of how it’s made? Not the people that play it. They’re not reading. They’re on TikTok watching some howling idiot’s game highlights. These games are chicken nuggets. People don’t wanna think about it—
Activision believes there’s a “Call of Duty tax” on the way the series is covered by games media these days, according to an executive. vgc.news/news/the-cal...

Ok but it’s not a start up it’s a established business. There is no fast recovery for Xbox you need smart and careful decisions not fast ones because audiences and studios pay attention and react accordingly
Asha Sharma has brought in a start up mentality into Xbox. Speed is a priority. The Xbox price increase was hastily thrown together after Apple announced its price increases. Decision which normally take weeks are now decided in days or hours. www.thegamebusiness.com/p/xbox-divid...

Andy Merrill (Brak) is an Amazon delivery driver. Carey Means (Frylock) got CHF from/exacerbated by COVID & was recently working as a restaurant dishwasher. C. Martin Croker (Zorak) died of sepsis from an infected tooth he couldn't afford to get treated. Capitalism destroys both art & artist.
Saw this on FB. If you’ve ever enjoyed Aqua Teen, please help if you can. Someone who’s such an integral part of one of Adult Swim’s most beloved shows deserves much better than this.

Genuinely not sure how long it would take for Sony to fix Jim Ryan’s influence
Shuhei Yoshida, former head of Sony Worldwide Studios, has remarked that he was "fired" by then-CEO Jim Ryan "because I didn’t listen to him." Yoshida suggested Ryan "asked to do some ridiculous things, and I said 'No,'" before saying he highly enjoyed his subsequent PlayStation Indies role.

This is likely why something like arc raiders/ helldivers 2/ marvel rivals all managed to be successful even if your a solo player the loss is small beyond time and you can still have fun, if you have friends you have a place to hang out and something to do for a couple of hours.
The other problem is that they thought "fortnites" were match-based multiplayer shooters with microtransactions when really "fortnites" are games that are fun when you aren't good at them and can be played with your friends as a non-goal-driven hangout space.
Every time I ask myself where exactly is all of this money where is all of this money going? I struggle to think of any games where all of this is happening that justifies the price.
Exact budgets of video-game productions can be tough to corroborate (more transparency from publishers would be nice!) but the numbers I've heard floating around AAA game dev these days are $300 million or more — sometimes much more! — which I think helps explain the current state of the industry
Xbox refuses to have a shred of dignity in its death
Gaming Copilot coming to Xbox consoles later this year: "[...]we will bring Gaming Copilot to the current-generation consoles, and we will continue to bring it to more services that players are playing", said Manager for Gaming AI at Xbox Sonali Yadav ➡️ www.gamesradar.com/games/xbox-j...
Ah yes Google knows how to appeal to “players” as shown by their huge success in the gaming space
Watching a demo of how you can turn every NPC in your RPG town into somebody who says "That's right — you *are* the four LIGHT WARRIORS. You make a great point! The bridge to the main continent *does* need to be repaired, and you're just the person to do it."
So functionally they were way too married to apex legends as the model. Only seemed to work in essentially “lab” settings and had assumed they could make lighting strike twice. They had enough awareness to avoid a battle royale but not enough to know they still were in its orbit
NEW: Inside the failure of Highguard, which flopped so badly that developer Wildlight laid off most of its staff just two weeks after release. Here's the story behind why people loved working at Wildlight, why Tencent pulled funding, and how it all fell apart: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
