I'm working on the final edits for this today. The book will be out early next year. While it never says "claustrophobia," this whole chapter is about it.

My absolute, rock-bottom standard for trans allies right now is that when they see a post from a trans person saying that they can't vote for some anti-trans Dem & they're sick about all this, you offer a shoulder to cry on instead of a lecture on electing Nazis. That's it. That's all you gotta do.

"Hold your nose and vote" worked for me for a good while, I absolutely understand the framework of it in a vacuum, but Dems are showing what they believe they need to do is to actively and demonstrably become more fascist in nature in that time.

Earn my vote or you get nothing. Either you don’t need my vote (hence throwing my community’s rights under the bus) or you do. You don’t get to have it both ways. I won’t sacrifice myself just so you can “be safe”.
