Donald Trump saying Barack Obama isn't a smart guy will be in heavy contention for 2026's Least Self-Aware Remark.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

If Ramaswamy wins in Ohio then I guess we'll be forced to line up our own crazy lady living in a car with her cats because she chose her SO who likes to rape family over, you know, her ACTUAL family. The good news is we could probably get her to say any damn thing, true or not.

Miss Bomala used to leave me alone at my desk but since she got certified as an emotional support animal by my psychiatrist, she hops up on my lap during our appointments. And now she's expanded her interest to WSFA and BSFS meetings. She's still no Don Juan, though.

If I ran things, in-person voting would take place on the weekend, and results would be released with a holiday, and people would be encouraged to have parties. Maybe voters could even match in a parade, tossing patriotic trinkets and candy. Voting ought to be cooler. And everyone should do it.

NEW on @zeteo.com — Venues are *pulling out* of hosting Vivek Ramaswamy for his bus tour across Ohio in the closing days of the election. “We’re getting calls that people don’t want him there,” a top Ohio Republican says. “It’s that damn ad.” From @andrewperez.bsky.social and @swin24.bsky.social:

The exciting part about the Anthropic vibe coded settlement backend is that no matter how many times you fix your information, the same broken bits will reappear. It will be total madness. The entire backend is broken because, AS THEY TOLD ME ON THE PHONE, they know it is because they vibe coded.

Hello claimants in the Anthropic copyright suit! The parties filed a stipulated agreement asking for an update to the website. In this stipulation, there are two important things (although there are more that might matter for individuals).

There were some out kids in college but not a lot & certainly not the education majors. Now so many have come out, it's OK to be a gay teacher, there's gay parenthood, even the head of CBS News is an out lesbian (and a shit, but I digress). Still a long way to go but things are better.

You can just...say you have anxiety disorder or you suffer from depression, and compare notes, and take hands with each other on it, and text cat pics/watch TV on the phone together/live through it. We all used to be on ice floes alone; let's never go back

She cut off comments so people can't tell her how very wrong she is. I'm just relieved she has only one vote. And if you are in the US, you have a vote, too. We need to cancel hers out.

Suddenly I'm happy about Maryland's paper ballots. Even though I don't think my vote has ever mattered in this state. When we lived in Carroll Co., the rednecks were so numerous our votes for Democrats were outnumbered. Since I moved to civilization 21 years ago, I've been 1 of a horde of Dems.

Republicans are trying to steal your vote! Stella Parton is warning Tennessee voters.

Which leaves one to wonder why Chuck Schumer can’t bring himself to say the exact same thing. Schumer CANNOT be the Senate Majority leader.

I didn't think I liked gin, but I splurged on some Hendrick's gin and that changed my mind. In anticipation of a royalty check, I see the same distillery makes "Another Hendrick's" gin. Has anyone tried it? Is it good? #HendricksGin #Hendricks #CraftGin

My email today contained a request from the Montreal Worldcon that I volunteer. If it came to it, I probably wouldn't perform a sex act on Donald Trump in preference to volunteering but let that be our little secret. Mike & I are still trying to decide what we're doing in late August next year.

One thing - That Canadians aren’t the US’s enemies That Russia is a bad actor That supporting women means supporting abortion That rape is evil and rapists deserve decades of jail time That Trump is a convicted felon and rapist

I wonder how many women, who found themselves pregnant, were ever swayed by the whole zygote/embryo/fetus = baby argument. I don't think it's a useful argument and I'm amazed it still gets trotted out over the last several decades. Anti-abortion folks should come up with something more compelling.

I had my fortnightly conversation with my friend Mike* last night. We were gaming out scenarios where a Blue Wave has happened, Trump is gone (with discussing resignation, impeachment, or death) and who JD could nominate for VP who could actually be confirmed. We were stumped...1/ *not Walsh

them feel all warm and fuzzy. He's not expected to win against Wes Moore. It's a repeat of 4 yrs ago. I maintain a Republican could be elected mayor of Baltimore if they were extremely liberal by GOP standards. But they would never survive the primary. However, I doubt if they could beat B. Scott.

But then I realized Larry Hogan, who only looks moderate on the backdrop of MAGA, could fit the bill. Hogan is an object lesson to the Maryland GOP. Our two most recent R governors have been leftists on the crazy worldview of Repugs. But this go-round, they nominated Dan Cox, who is making...2/

The rest of us have actual lives to live, and we’re getting awfully fucking tired of having them legislated by people who think reading one ancient book constitutes an education. It fucking doesn’t.

The continuing coverage of the Cornell assault is dredging up a sad deja vu for me. In the last 50 years we have made so many improvements in the lives of the majority of college students but other than the drugs being varied, frat boys still manage to avoid responsibilities for their crimes.

Remember playing cops and robbers as a kid and the kid playing a robber would wear a scarf covering up the lower part of their head? Because wearing a scarf over your face in our culture is totally what men do.
