Because four of the Justices have book contracts with a party's corporate parent, the Supreme Court LACKS A QUORUM to hear BMG v. Vetter, and one of the worst copyright decisions in recent memory is affirmed by default. It's just one bad look after another.

SCOOP: 404 Media placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it. What did we find? It ended up at an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books.
Yes. This is literally the logo outside the Amazon warehouse door. Read now:
the two-way protected bike lane on Folsom is *finally* going in and I would like to salute the enthusiasm of the contactors putting in the temporary bike stencils

A remarkable transition. Better infrastructure has to be about creating better environment that encourages public life. Far beyond how we get from A to B—it will affect how we meet, where we spend our time, and the whole social fabric that is woven together by those simple but fundamental actions.
I originally started filming Utrecht because of its cycling infrastructure. Looking back over seventeen years of footage, I realised I have documented something much bigger: the transformation of an entire city.

Three years ago tomorrow, I very nervously gave this speech. I knew my career as a TV journalist was dunzo, cooked, filleted, kaput the morning I wrote it. (Thanks to Kat insisting I go for it anyway.)
The end is awfully prescient at this exact second, though. Big ups to Scott Pelley for fighting.
[2/2] Since I don't ever make this kind of video, I'm sure it could be done a lot better, but hopefully it gets the point across. I'd love it if people who specialize in this kind of video started looking at the broader issue.

A lot of our problems right now can be attributed to mistaking what one has been given by society as what one has contributed to it. Fame, wealth, and other achievements may be duly earned, but they are still at best indirect and imperfect proxies for what one actually provides and produces.
“Video footage obtained by The Sun shows Students for a Democratic Cornell members Aiden Vallecillo ’26 and Hudson Athas ’27 being struck by the car. In the video, no person can be seen touching the vehicle before it drove into Vallecillo and Athas.” www.cornellsun.com/article/2026...
Taken together, these four features can create a trancelike state that can keep us stuck on social media apps or video games for hours. Children are particularly vulnerable.
I wrote and posted this to Instagram a couple of days ago and it became my most-read poem ever. I’m honored I get to feel big feelings alongside you all. I’m posting it here too and want to use this space more consistently. Hello friends ❤️
🚨 THIS JUST IN: With over 100 protests still to come, we can already estimate that at least 8 million people participated in No Kings protests today.
That makes No Kings 3 the largest single day of protest in American history. #NoKings
According to documents filed this morning by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of NY, ICE has been lying for a year — not only to the public, but to the courts and to prosecutors — about being authorized to make arrests at 26 Federal Plaza and other immigration courts. (1/2)
ICE observers in Minnesota are skeptical about the White House's claims of a federal drawdown.
But they have noticed in recent weeks a shift from aggressive street sweeps in Minneapolis to instead target people in the suburbs or quietly waiting in unmarked vehicles of residential areas.
Big crowd starting to gather for the first day of SFUSD teachers’ strike in front of city hall earlier today. Judging by all the honking, many other residents are enthusiastically supportive.
Day 3 and I finally made to the picket line in time for the march. Clapping, fist-thumping, and much-a-honking from all kinds of neighbors. Nobody ever said what the teachers ask for is unreasonable.
In a city proud for its creativity, let’s find a way to give the educators what they need.
Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."
Some think it’s UESF’s fault that SFUSD schools are closed, or they should negotiate while keeping school open. This is BS. Strike is the only real threat that the educators have against the district which has most of the power and controls comms. You cannot have a fair fight with your hands tied.
Federal judge has ordered the release of Liam Ramos (the bunny hat boy) and his father. A brief and rather remarkable order. Clearly written to be shared widely, so please do. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.
"Please get the truth out about our son."
As Homeland Security’s siege on Minneapolis enters its third week, locals are volunteering for patrol shifts, protesting in the streets, and keeping one another up to date in group texts.

This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.
I am not fearful — I am fearless.
We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights..
Pritzker: "One of the reasons Trump wants to send troops into cities is bc he wants to be able to take control of the 2026 elections...if they've got troops in cities, & it becomes a kind of norm for people, then it won't be abnormal for them when they're going to vote having troops at ballot boxes"
This is horrific and feels like it should be a bigger deal. Business Insider reports that people who have worked at xAI have seen Grok create images and written material with child sex abuse material.

Pritzker: Neither Texas nor the FBI at the federal level has the authority to arrest these Texas Democrats
They’re welcome to visit to take in the great views and enjoy the incredible restaurants we have. But they won’t be taking anyone home with them, or out of the state.
🚨 Texas Democrats just pulled one of the boldest moves in recent political history: They walked out, got on airplanes, and broke quorum to block a Trump-backed GOP gerrymander. This is democracy on the line — and Texas Dems are fighting with everything they’ve got.
NEW: Jordan Lasker recently made news by leaking hacked admissions data about Zohran Mamdani.
Our investigation shows a Reddit user who posted highly specific details that fit with his offline life once wrote: “I actually am a Jewish White Supremacist Nazi.”

Secret ICE police are terrifying people, undermining trust in law enforcement & creating a tinderbox where people don’t know whether the person grabbing them is law enforcement or some vigilante.
It has to stop. We’re advancing legislation to ban this liquor-store-robbery-style masking by agents.
The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
Today's Supreme Court decision does not opine on the constitutionality of Trump's assault on birthright citizenship. It is limited to the question of universal injunctions. But its ruling on that front is MASSIVE—a huge blow to plaintiffs and judges trying to block Trump's most lawless policies.
New car bonnets are trending higher and higher each year… bringing new safety concerns to our roads.
One study suggests that a 10 cm increase in bonnet height (from 80 cm to 90 cm) raises the risk of death by 27% for pedestrians, cyclists and others.

Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.
I dunno, but maybe Democratic members of Congress shouldn't go the White House picnic tonight and pretend everything's fine and dandy, unless and until Sen. Padilla gets a phone call apologizing for what happened from Donald Trump?
Every one of those DHS goons, from Noem on down, should be investigated for malicious arrest and abuse of power.
The Trump administration is going down the list of abuses that the Founders laid out in the Declaration of Independence one by one.
Soon, they'll be quartering troops in private homes.
"Liberate this city from socialists and burdensome leadership." If that's not regime change, I don't know what to tell you.
The inflection point is now.
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."
Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!
