🎉 Great news! The Illinois State Archaeological Survey at PRI has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Illinois State Historical Records Advisory Board. The funding will support a project to organize and digitize archaeological spatial data from past excavations at Cahokia.

Hundreds of children and parents enrolled in long-term study of the effects of common chemicals on #brain development and #cognition. They've been at this for more than a decade and have findings to share. #plastics

Book recommendation: PREGNANCY INTERRUPTED by Kate Clancy. This is one of the most important books I’ve read this year. I hope everyone will read this book that can (I know this content is really tough for about half the population). Please take care while reading! (See CW in the next post)

If you value reliable information sources that are not based on #AI, do one thing today (and every day): Click on @wikipedia.org or Wikimedia Commons and look something up. I rely on both sites now more than ever because they cite checkable sources and are based on human intelligence and integrity.

A bacterial protein fragment called corisin drives the process of pulmonary fibrosis by infiltrating and disrupting the cell’s quality-control system, researchers at Illinois and Mie University in Japan found in a new study. Meanwhile, blocking corisin with an antibody impeded the damage.

Pregnancy losses are often seen as failures, the result of bad genetics or bad behavior on the part of the pregnant person. Clancy's book sees #pregnancy losses differently, a necessary part of the process and a result of the "hot mess of mammalian evolution." #reproductive @kateclancy.bsky.social

“The process of pregnancy, far from being straightforward or inevitable, is one marked by significant uncertainty,” writes U. of I. anthropology professor Kate Clancy in a new book published by @princetonupress.bsky.social. Photo by Joanna Strauss @lasillinois.bsky.social

There's a reason that DJT doesn't have pets. There's a reason that you don't see him in pictures with animals. Animals don't like him. Sometimes the best judge of character is a dog or a cat or a horse. 🐎

Training helped college students better regulate their emotions in response to negative events or memories. Functional MRI scans revealed corresponding changes in the spontaneous functional connectivity of their brains.
